Transmission/Clutch problem?

I was bashing pretty hard yesterday and the Nitro Stampede stopped running good. When I took it in to look at it I didn't see anything wrong. Then when I tried starting it again I noticed the tires were spinning like the clutch was engaged. If I turn the wheels the spur gear hardly spins and the transmission makes a slight scratchy noise. What do you guys think it is?

Hard to say without breaking trans down and inspecting it. As far as clutch seeming to be engaged while starting your clutch spring or clutch pads inside bell may be broken or worn out.

yep tear the clutch apart first and all the easy to get to driveline stuff and if all that fails then tear the tranny apart and look there.

You already know the clutch is broke, that means clutch shoes and bearings.
Are you sure the scratchy noise isn't the bad clutch or a tight gear mesh?
