This is the official build thread with parts listed so it eliminates any "what did you use" questions.

I decided to build a scaler but really didn't want to buy a full scx kit since i had alot of parts already. I decided to buy the scx frame kit/tranny, and use my wheely king axles and imagination for the rest. :) So i get everything in and the first night i am seeing problems. I saw issues with driveshaft fitment going from an ax tranny to wk axles, the hand bros steering kit was designed for the ax axles, i didn't have any upper or lower links and my parts stock was limited. I was about to give up, be a conformist and buy all ax-10 stuff. Then i called chip. Yes, while he was on vacation and probably starting a family with mrs. cross. :D We talked for a bit and basically he said to man up and use the wk axles. He gave me some ideas and part numbers for link options so i went home with renewed energy. Here is what i have so far.

SCX chassis
WK axles with hardened ring and pinions, rear is locked out and jb welded.
Axial tranny
Bastard driveshafts
traxxas shocks
hand bros steering modded to fit wk axles
savage turnbuckle for the upper front 3rd link
revo steel pushrods for front lowers
Tmaxx rear turnbuckles for rear lower links
Lunsford savage turnbuckles for rear upper links
2.2 mudslingers on black pede wheels

Mamba max
Castle BEC
SR3000 RX
Hitec 5997
Integy 55T (will be replaced with a warrior R when it dies)
2S 5100 enerland hard pack (going to 3S or 4S later on)

I did have to flip my rear axle because i got everything done and the rear went forward and the front went backward. :hehe::hehe: i have about 8 hours into the build and i laid it on the carpet and told my wife to come look at this great build i had just finished. I hit the throttle once and the suspension shot up and my drive shaft separated with a resounding POP. :D
She about died laughing at me.

Few things left to work on are a body first and foremost and then i need to cut a spacer to dial in my rear pinion angle and adjust my 3 link for the front pinion angle. New shocks will come eventually but the most important thing is that its fully operational and just has to be tweaked.

No pics for now. :p: I need to see if the camera phone can get anything decent shot.

doesn't look that bad. Whats the wheelbase on it? I may just run it. what do you want for it?

Dude, your getting rid of the High Lift now???

still needs a few hours of work to get the body right but the frame/suspension/running gear is top notch

Yea. you need to make a front bumper for that body....... sorry it didnt come with one. Looks good. Go edit the first thread to traxxas shocks instead of WK ones.

i'll come up with something. I may just get rcaddict to custom bend some tubing for me.

thanks again for the body. its gonna work out sweeeeet.

i looked at it a little more and it would fit better if i shortened the rears up some. oh well. its gonna be semi-scale. as long as its somewhat realistic, i am happy.

hoping to get the body done and test it out this weekend.

Talk about an authentic looking truck body!! Look at the gap between the cab and the bed (2nd pic). See how there is a slight difference in the gap between the top and down and the bottom. I love it dude, just like my 1:1 truck. They all get that when they get old and things start to sag. Either way, your body sits on the frame just like a real truck. Looks great.
