My youngest son (10) is autistic and doesn't leave his room much.
Today I was messing around arranging rocks in the front garden to continue testing my new MN82 and he came out to have a go.
I think he was quite amazed that a toy truck could handle that terrain (as am I) and seemed to enjoy it.
This may seem quite ordinary, but that's the first time he's been outside all summer holidays. I guess secretly that's what I was hoping for, even though I bought it for my own entertainment. I've been spending way too much time playing with the suspension, weight distribution and painting some details on when I should be doing jobs on the house 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thats awesome man! I hope he really takes a shine to it.

Welcome to the addiction! I hope you have an extensive credit line! 😃

That's incredible news, if you can swing it, sit down at the computer with him and have him pick one out.
I know sometimes it's tough to keep up with this hobby financially but you may have stumbled onto an amazing therapy.
You can't put a price on that. :):)

That's what I should do.

I do go out with my cars, alot actually, but for the past few months, I been just in the backyard. What I need to do is actually get out of the house and walk around the neighborhood, maybe to the field across the street or even to the baseball diamond. Would be better if I had someone to bash with too 😥 I actually do have the motivation to go to the track when I can so I can see my buddies, and to have fun and run some laps.

But OP, good for him! That's great 👍 😃

Yes, I'd feel a bit self conscious about going anywhere alone.
The only clubs which are near me are indoor racing and it's all a bit too formal
(and expensive!). I'm sure there must be more casual bashing meets but I don't do social media which is where everything seems to happen these days.

Look into RC clubs in your area. Even if you have to look around in a Facebook group for a minute to make a few connections, it may be worth it. Local hobby shops may have some info about local groups as well. Or maybe you could put up a flyer there asking to connect with local RC folks for bashing outings with the kids or something.

For general bashing, I typically just go to a park. We have a gravel quarry that was turned in to a park that always has huge dirt and gravel piles. Thats pretty fun :)

There's a shop a few miles away which would be worth a visit, although I'm scared of spending money if I go!
The only 2 clubs in the area are indoor racing only.
Closed my Facebook account several years ago with no intention of returning.
I joined a UK rc forum but there's hardly any activity on it which is why I came here.

Well, fortunately for you, the UK is a tiny island 😜. And there are a few folks here from your neck of the woods. We need to get @WoodiE to add a country flag to our user info area here so we can keep an eye on these UK guys 😉🤣

Seriously though, you'll fit in here. And oh yeah, there's a really cool dude here from over that way - @Roog. He's into building the cool tethered cars that fly around a circular track on a string and go so fast you can't see them. He's in need of a video guy to film his runs since he can't seem to get us a video 😄

It might be worth noting that a fancy new lexan body and your son's favorite paint colors can be purchased at a rather moderate price. Maybe this will coax him to the drivers seat?
Whatever is working, I'm glad you found it and I'm glad you found us!

Ha Ha, whilst it is true that we live on a tiny island, its all relative, a couple of hundred miles is a long way for us in a car! OK well it is for me. This has put me off running my car at the proper track in the North of England.

Incidentally, I'm sure someone has video of my car running I just haven't manage to track down who has the footage.

200 miles here is nothing. I drove over 600 miles just to pick ip a set of wheels and tires for my Mustang once. But 1/3 of the way there we decided to take a sight seeing detour that took us about 500 miles out of our way 😝
