Once I started seeing these things in action I knew I was doomed to get one 🤷‍♂️ For me, the small stuff is often just as fun as 1/8 to 1/5.
I ordered up a grey Bronco knowing there was a body swap on the horizon. I had this 1/25 Datsun model kit I had attempted to put on my scx24. It worked but just looked funky, like a jacked up monster truck. I no longer have pictures but they are over there on the dead crawler forum.
This took only minor work to adapt it to the Scx30, because it’s the perfect size.

I had to design and print my own mounts. The long bed from the model kit was the perfect length to snag up on an incline so off with that. I downloaded a file from cults3d and printed out the bed. I had tried to print the cab but the file was just so small that it was literally one wall and would snap from removing supports. I ended up finding a free file from 24yep that was 24th scale and got that to work (scaled it down) using a .2 nozzle.
Mounts are simple. Up front is a spacer that holds a magnet,

The rear is attached to the bed with 2 screws and is also the spare tire mount.

It’s all mounted up and ready to paint. I have other chit to do today so that isn’t happening just yet.

For now I am sticking with the stock brushed system. I went through a few motors so far, and I have ended up with a Holmes 55t 050 motor.
Stock: just fine, lacks speed, gets a little warm / borderline hot. I would like to see it run a touch cooler. That tells me it’s too small of a motor.
Mofo nano beast: same speed as stock, looks good in black chrome, more torque but kinda cogs at a super low speed, also gets as warm as the stock motor.
Hobbyplus 55t 050 from a v1 T-Hunter: great motor surprisingly, barely warm at all, plenty of torque, about the same speed as stock maybe slightly faster
Holmes Hobbies 55t 050: all the perks from the hobbyplus but made with neodymium magnets like the neobeast, awesome torque and low speed. This is the way.
Stormtrooper driver for the win.

I gotta hit John up and order one of those motors. Though I know he's working on a brushless setup (was in one of his videos recently), so I'm waiting to see what he does with that just because the wife hates the squeeeeeeeallll of the brushed setup.

A short test on my uber unfinished backyard crawler course reveals that we need bigger tires and more wheel speed. So fun, and crazy capable!

I think I am going to get the 44t motor and try it out. This little thing needs a bit more speed sometimes. These could easily be Little Rock “hoppers”.
