I bought my first van in 1979 with the help of my step grandpa. In the first month of ownership I got three flat tires, all of them traveling in our out of our half mile long gravel driveway. At this point my dad and step mom had lived in that house for two years and got no flats at all.
The best flat ever though was in Washougal, WA in 1984. I ran over someone's house key. Imagine driving a half ton van with tires so crappy that an ordinary house key can stab it. I drove directly to a tire shop as the tire was going flat. The key tore up the tire pretty bad, I think I ended up having to buy a new tire, but that was forty-six years ago and I just can't remember for sure.
