When I’ve had similar injuries in the past, I wrap the injury in a cloth soaked with ACV (apple cider vinegar) for at least 45 minutes, works wonders. 😊

Hope you get to feeling better. 😎
I have not tried the vinegar. I am planning an epsom salt compress next.

I'l have to check stock... see if we have acv too.

Thanks!!! 😁👍

@CertifiedMike That's an ouch and a half. :( Thats a spot that takes a bit to heal, hope it's just a bad sprain. Take it easy and keep it wrapped. Swing by your local drug store and pick up a wrist brace, (the kind with metal support rods). They help keep it supported while allowing it to breath better. Allows support without restricting blood flow. Every now and then I tweak a wrist and they do help.

Day 4 of the Outbreak

I did it. Ventured out. Couldn't take another day of those damn crackers—my mouth feels like sandpaper, and the hunger was making me dizzy. Waited until mid-morning, when the light was good but the shadows were still long. Pushed the dresser aside as quietly as I could, heart pounding so loud I swore anything outside could hear it. Gun in hand, gripped tight like my life depended on it. The hallway was clear, dust motes floating in the sunlight from the window.

Crept downstairs. The house is empty—Kitchen was a goldmine: cans of soup, tuna, beans, even some peanut butter and a half-loaf of bread in the freezer that wasn't too moldy. Water bottles in the pantry. Stuffed what I could into a backpack. Felt like Christmas, until I heard it—a low groan from outside, then shuffling feet.

Peeked out the front window. Street's still mostly deserted, abandoned cars everywhere, but down the block... five or six of them. Infected. Stumbling around aimlessly, bumping into fences. One was wearing a mail carrier uniform, bag dragging behind. They haven't noticed the house yet. Society? Gone here, at least. No lights in any windows, no movement except them. If it's like this everywhere, we're fiddlesticked.

Made it back upstairs without incident. Barricaded again. Eating real food now—cold tomato soup straight from the can. Tastes like heaven. Symptoms still the same, no worse. But I know I can't stay forever. Power's probably going out soon, and those things... they're out there. Might need to risk the corner store next. Or find a car. If anyone finds this, I'm alive. For now.

A forced re-evaluation of how i spend my time and effort for sure!
I can't rotate my wrist to hold a pistol grip radio, nor screwdriver right now.
Snow blowing is out of the question.

This is BAD timing!!!! 😐
I fell off a train car a few years ago at work and messed my wrist and hand up. I climbed over the knuckle knowing full well it wasn’t the right way to do it, got my foot stuck and did a full rotation into the ground. 😂 I know the pain (literally) of not being able to use a radio.

Hopefully ya heal up quick. May be a good time to catch up on some shows and find a neighbor kid wanting to make 20 bucks to swing a shovel. lol

I didn't do badly. I fell on my ass mostly. Kept my hands by my sided. The momentum from the ice slid me like I had ball bearings, on to my side, rolled over my stupid hand.
I think the roll is what caused the damage, not the impact.
I think I levitated back to my feet... I was PISSED!!! 🤬🤯🤕

I failed to ice it immediately. Considering the amount of ice on the ground right now, I am pretty annoyed with myself. 🙄

Mrs Certified did pick up a brace that seems to offer the right support. Its a carpal tunnel brace mostly.

I slept better last night. Swelling is down more. I have more function in my fingers. Thumb is still angry as is wrist.

Overall is better today. After lunch, gonna attempt a shower. Should be a comedy of horrors! 🤔👍🤣

Thanks everyone for your kind words, wishes and suggestions. 😁

It's programmed into our gray matter to throw our arms our to protect our brain.
i fractured my left arm twice in under a year (October 1990 and August 1991) my grey matter is programmed to throw my head out to protect my arms :hehe:
i wonder if that's why when i get pissed my kneejerk reaction is to headbutt things. 🤔

Bump for today's rant:
Called Blue Cross for a couple questions specific to my new for 2026 policy. (Rant #1)
Took almost 15 minutes for somebody I could barely understand to answer the call. (Rant #2)
For one question, the guy actually said out loud - "Let me Google that for you." (Rant #3)

53 minutes later, all I've accomplished is elevated blood pressure.

Were you asking if high blood pressure was covered?
