It was prototype designs for sample so it can be reproduced. I hated it and my boss knew it. But it was only sometimes and to basically keep the shop open.

It was always for a different designer. Not our product.
One job I had was at General Housewares here in Terre Haute. Owners of OXO, Granite Ware, and Chicago Cutlery, just to name a few. We had to package knife sets while they filmed us so they could show a company in Mexico how to fo our jobs.

They eventually moved everything out of the country I believe, and shut down the enamel plant here in town which produced their Granite Ware line.

Upon leaving, the town had to spend millions to go in and clean up the huge toxic mess they left behind. The area was littered with tons of asbestos waste. It is still a contaminated site as far as I know, even after they removed tons of topsoil and trucked it off somewhere to eventually ruin someone else's water supply.

I feel sorry for anybody that lives near this site. It's a lot of poor folks breathing contaminated air.

Hopefully all the new American companies that will be opening at the end of this month will be held to a higher standard.

Bringing manufacturing to the US isn't gonna be good for anyone if its run like this.

Uggggggh! Spent all day at the courthouse in a courtroom watching jury selection and hoping I don't get called.

Let me tell you guys, don't get yourself in a situation that you will need a jury trial, because there are some real dimwits out there. I barely kept myself from being held in contempt, I really wanted to walk up to the jury box and flick some of them on the forehead!

After eight hours on hard benches, my tailbone hurt so bad I couldn't sit down for an hour after I got home.

PRO TIP: never break your tailbone, it's been four or five years now, and it still won't let me sit for long periods of time.

Best way to get out of jury duty is to walk into the courtroom with a rope. Throw it on the floor and yell HANG HIM! 😊

I have a buddy that got called in for Jury Duty. The county is kind of weird shaped. So for him, it was at least a 1.5hr drive to the courthouse, one way.

He's a dr/dentist, owns his own practice. And pretty much lost all his patients that day.

Think about how much that cost him.

He no longer calls when he gets a summons. In fact he will say "what summons?".

True story.

I got summoned one time. I just ignored it.

My rant for the day: The current "vintage" RC boom. There are companies are out here manufacturing racing upgrades to increase the performance of decades' old technology because vintage racing is the next boom. JUST LET IT BE VINTAGE. Stop modifying and bending rule books to allow upgrades...just let it be stock! Sure, manufacture all the stock replacement parts you want...but a 1980 turd bucket doesn't need carbon fiber shock towers...The whole fun in racing 1980s turd buckets is that they drive and handle like 1980s turd buckets!

I don't race or own anything vintage at the moment, but I compare it to short course racing when it began its boom in the early 2ks. When the Slash and SC10 first came out, the stock 2wd short course racing class was the most fun I had ever had on the driver stand. Then came the aftermarket and low cg everything and our slow parachutes on wheels started handling like buggies. It completely lost its appeal to me.

My car had a graphite chassis in 1988.
Kosworks was making CVDs fir them back then as was MIP. Robinson had under and overdrive gear sets, Novak and Tekin were already making escs you could weld with.. There were tons of motor, tire, bearing, body manufactures then too.
Don't think high performce parts weren't availible 35 years ago just because not everyine had them.
We didn't just take RC's out of the boxes and start racing them. 🤣

Upgrading is not a new invention.

My car was WAY faster, lighter than a stock optima mid. Exceptionaly capable and competitive. Because of upgrades.

Now, 38 years later, I have the same car and FULL intent to run it against ANYTHING on a track.
No claims of vintage or appiloguzing or asking fir rules to bend.
I don't care if I win or lose. My car is MY car. Built with parts I picked out. MY options, not what Horizon told me I could build.

You think that new parts for cars that have survived and thrived fir 40 years is a waste.
I thimk building new RCs with parts coverage avail from the manufacturer for 5 years before it becomes and irrelevant shelf queen is a FAR larger waste of time, effort and resources.

I doubt they'll stop producing parts for small block chevys and 426 hemis for the exact same reasons.
Not a lot of left on the market for my Duratech Focus these days tho. 🤷‍♀️

Sir, I did not mean to strike a nerve with the turd bucket comments. 🤣

I completely agree with and understand the need/want for aftermarket. Not debating that one bit!

I'm trying to say that these race classes are introduced as fun/whimsical/exhibition classes...just let them stay that because they lose their value once they become competitive.

Skill issue 😆

Partially. Can't deny it. 😅

I had a problem with my internet, it would stay on for about two minutes and then quit.
We finally called them and apparently they found the issue on their end and it seems to be
good now.
