You’re 100% right, I’m putting my foot down for now on. It’s been difficult in the past because she’s 100% one of those self entitled Karens but I’ve had enough of the phone calls and her yapping at me. It’s MY life not hers

I impulse bought a gaming PC so I can play some games with my friend and a few games that just aren’t on Xbox. It’s been 5 years since I touched windows.

WTF is windows 11?!?! I’ve heard the memes before and figured it was just blown out of proportion. Windows 11 is legit spyware… like I didn’t even want to connect it to the WiFi if I’m being completely honest. It’s awful…and I can’t believe they pushed this out to consumers. I can see why Linux is starting to gain traction in the gaming space. Windows needs a new CEO if this is the future.

true, but I'm pretty sure Microsoft makes a boat load of revenue from their Azure cloud computing platform (which is mostly targeted at businesses) so I'm not even sure they care that much about Windows now
so far Windows has mostly followed the same trajectory of one version that everyone and their grandma talk about (for the right reasons) being immediately followed by another version that everyone and their grandma also talk about (for all the wrong reasons). Who knows, maybe Windows 12 may actually be good again. Whether that turns out to be true though is still up in the air, like that Mercedes during the 1999 Le Mans 24 hours.

I feel dirty every time I see a 'stock' android screen. Same thing with the 25 Google 'can't be removed' apps, cameras that other ppl control... not 'could be spyware'... 10000000000% IS FOR CERTAIN BEING USED TO SPY ON US!!!

My uncle just bought Windows 11, new computer... he is just THRILLED to get spied on!

We couldn't even talk about it.
He is like this with politics and his blind support despite all evidence to prove otherwise.

Linux was ALMOST out of my mouth at least a dozen times before I got the phone call that the foolish thing was in his living room.

My pos laptop hasn't been online in 3 years now.

Not really in any hurry or worry to replace it.
If it crashes or we get another, this one is a Lenovo and is supposed to be able to support Linux.
Learning Linux is all that concerns me. Prob better now than later.

I imagine lots of ppl see it like I do... We will finally end a relationship with Spyware Co and we got a free upgrade for an almost new condition, otherwise obsolete laptop in the process. Win, win, bye. Right?

I hate the mandatory bloat of Windows these days, but it's still my best option. Too much crap I don't need. They need to quit dumming everything down. PC's are necessary to do my job, I don't need all the foo foo hand holding garbage.
I gave Linux a look see not long ago, it still desn't jive with my needs.

I spent my USAF career in the "Intelligence Community". Spoiler Alert: NOTHING you do that involves a broadcast signal is private... NOTHING. If somebody wants to know badly enough, they will.

When 'they' can capture conversations from the vibrations on a window pane... you start to realize how all the other daily things we do today easily offer info IF anyone really wants to know. I don't do anything 'they' are really interested in, so I just don't worry about it.

No idea why this would push a button for anyone but Google and other such overlords.

I have no intent to offend either.

My life rolls along just fine without Windows 11, 10 mostly and Linux.

I never really had too maybe complaints about windows up until this point with the exception of windows 8. Vista was fine as long as you weren’t trying to run it on a pentoum 4 with 512mb of ram. 7 was everything vista did right. Windows 8 was terrible initially, but was fine by the time they released 8.1 and windows 10 was great.

Somthing about windows 11 just feels off. It feels like a subscription and less like an operating system. I shouldnt have to go through a song and dance to make a local account and not be bombarded with advertisements from Microsoft while using it. I don’t plan on using this for anything other than games… I have my MacBook for doing real work, so this will probably get the SSD wiped and steam OS installed on it. Who knows, maybe I’ll get over it. But, I’m still gonna be mad about it.
