I've heard the saying an a lot over the years but this is the first time I've seen it actually happen...
Would have been better if they gave you no info at all!well the tracking info i got from my chinese order that wasn't really tracking info (its dead link) that also had a thing on the top of my email that was showing updates (?) somehow disappeared yesterday. last update it said it was in New York and that was Saturday. soooo..... idk wtf is going on. 8BitDo seems like a reputable company in the retro video game modding community so.... idk. on one hand i really want my parts. on the other I'm starting to hope that all i loose is the $50. i placed the order on the 9th so i also still have hope that my parts show up.
but why china to New York?
pretty much yeah. having nothing would take the wtf out of the situation.Would have been better if they gave you no info at all!
China to NY? My guess is that just where it passed thru customs.![]()
There, that seems more likely at least if this were my shipment! If it was in fact in New York on the 16th. then it's not out of the realm of possibility that it'll show up 3-5 months from now.
The Chinese tracking numbers only work on Chinese tracking sites. Until it hits customs, it can't be tracked unless you use sites like https://m.17track.net/en/trackpretty much yeah. having nothing would take the wtf out of the situation.
i figured it would get put on a boat and shipped from China to California and that would probably take 10-12 days at best maybe 20-25 at worst. instead it seems as if it was flown to New York. cause it seems to have been packaged and shipped on the 10th. then changed locations in China on the 11th. i forget where exactly, but it was right on the water so I'm guessing a port(?). instead it seems to have been in New York on the 16th. and now i got nothing.

So I have a pretty nice sewing table. I don't use it much in the summer cuz it's hot and it's in the garage. Plus I haven't had hardly anytime with kiddo.
I stored my buggy tires on the table while I waiting to be able to work on it. Last weekend when I removed the tires to put on the chassis, they left black rings stained on my wood table.
Now I'm gonna have to refinish it at some point? Ugh..
Lesson learned, I will not store any tires on wood surfaces.

Ok so I'm really really mad right now.
My moms car (my first car in 2 years. Anything happens in the mean time it gets written over to me) is in the shop getting the clutch fixed. We were supposed to get it back yesterday, but they were test driving it to make sure. So on the road the motor seized because they FORGOT TO PUT OIL IN! just forgot! I'm sure the car yelled at them, but they neglected. The car means a lot to me and I'm really really sad that the original engine is gone, but I have an amazing friend who took me out to ice cream and then dinner at his apartment. I dont know where you guys are on religion, but I do have a theory that God made this happen so that it would get the new motor would last me longer in my life.
Now that's a shop or mechanic issue. Always check, double, triple check anything before you do anything else. Plus, if there was no oil, and there's a oil pressure gauge on the dash, it would have read 0 if there was no oil right? If there was a gauge on the dash for that car they were extremely dumb. I feel very sorry for you/the family and the car.My moms car (my first car in 2 years. Anything happens in the mean time it gets written over to me) is in the shop getting the clutch fixed. In their defense the 2016 vehicle here has no oil gauge. The 2018 from the same company has one though. Now that's a shop or mechanic issue. Now, what we talking about for new motor. LS swap? Cayote 5.0? Or a dodge hemi?or what about a 2JZ? (Or vortec 4200, the American 2JZ?)
What car is it or what engine is in it? We have 2 GM cars with the 3.6L V6 engine that was always problematic DUE to FACTORY DEFECTs. My mom went through 2 engines now on the 3rd. The other car is on its second (warranty) engine. The 3rd engine we put in our first car we got off of powertrain (shop here in MD), that they took GMs faulty engine and fixed the defects and it runs better than ever, and we have no worries about it.
Now since the shop, even though it could have been a mistake, we can always make mistakes sometimes, but from my view, it doesn't seem like a very reliable shop, from my experience. Just my 2 cents.
Now heres my question, the shop should be liable to cover a replacement engine for you since they didn't put any oil in? You shouldn't have to pay a dime IMHO. But government and legal stuff could say otherwise...
Could have been coolant or something AC related.EDIT: forgot to mention I'm wondering what's going on because I did a little snooping since the shop is right near my house and discovered that there was something under the car where it used to leak oil. But if there isnt any oil what leaked?
True, but is those the correct model years as Cheetah's? Looks like a mid 00s jeep to me. Should have an oil gauge. most modern cars dont even come with battery voltage gauges anymore. making them harder to work and diag on. (smh to the engineers and industry)In their defense the 2016 vehicle here has no oil gauge. The 2018 from the same company has one though.
Yesterday at our shop we finished a pretty nice Impala with only 94k miles on it for a lady with 2 kids. Figured I'd do her a solid since there was nothing to do after.
This day it was slow and I had nothing really to do after other than sweep a floor that's not dirty so I went really hard on it. Most days I don't have time to fully detail cars, just our classic restorations but this day was dead. That's why I did it.
Completely detailed the interior to look brand new if not better ( I am a very skilled detailer, also do body work). I even did the engine bay with detail brushes and everything else to perfection.
Day ends.
I go home pretty excited about it telling my girlfriend how I was happy with the work and how I was very excited about finishing it to get it to the customer.
I'm the type of person who really likes to have happy customers and take pride in doing great work. I stride for excellence and perfection.
Next day:
I get to work and take it for it's final wash.
I get back, go to polish (clean) the windows.
Boss comes out yelling (yes literally yelling at me in front of the other employees, I'm the only one he treats like garbage)
"I don't need to pay you to sit there and detail this f****** car. it's JUST a $1000 job! go park that f****** car. There's other $*** you can be doing!" For the record the car had whole side replaced, the fender, front and back door and quarter.
He completely killed my moral completely for the rest of this day. Killed my pride in the job. Why should I care anymore to impress his customers? Why should I work like I'm paid $18-$19 an hour when I'm paid just above minimum wage ? Why do I do this?!!?
I'm already far under paid but I work like I should be paid well over that every day. I'm a hard worker.
My boss is literally a narcissist by definition with anger episodes.
He's always going on about:
"customers are the most important thing to this company! They're literally my boss!"
"We take great pride in our work! We are the best in the area so no cutting corners!"
And turns around and tells me stuff like:
"humans are just tools! You're nothing but money makers to me!" Bla bla
The first day he was fine letting me go hard on the car. But the second day he exploded on me and didn't let me finish the detail when all I had was the windows left.
I hated doing all that hard work just to leave the simplist of tasks undone. I was just trying to blow his customer off their feet and set a great image of our company.
He makes it very difficult to work there, very.
When he's gone and it's just us guys we all have a good time and work great, no drama.
Bad thing is I bought a car from him of which I still owe $3,000 for and I'm stuck with him until it's paid. I can't leave because In the contract it states "if -my name- leaves or quits the car is to be returned and stored. Payments can still be made"
Idk, I'm looking to start a power washing business to make more cash and get out doing my own and pay off that car faster.
LS swap is probably pretty cost effective. At least it's the go to in older Land Cruisers. LS isn't my cup of tea, but if it works...Now that's a shop or mechanic issue. Oh it would have yelled at them. It's an 06' LJ and it does have one. We were a little low on oil and it yelled at us. Put more in obviously, but it's got a pressure gauge and it works. Dont forget part Mercedes too!Could have been coolant or something AC related.
Or if it was from the engine could be not torqued to spec drain plug, not tight filter, or not torqued to spec oil pan, so many things to take into account.
I mean... It is part dodge. Drips Oil n'd Grease Everywhere.
