Not a full rant.
About 5 minutes from work, around 5:15am, on of my tires had a blow-out. It's super gusty out, and the temp was 20degrees lower than the morning before 😒
Despite the inconvenience, I find myself rather fortunate. The blow-out occurred just as I was at the exit. I was able to find an empty parking lot nearby. My donut had full pressure. I keep a headlamp in my car at all times, and it had power. Took me about 15-20, from start to finish, and I was only 13 minutes late for work.
I believe I found the damaged spot, and I may be able to plug it. I'll find out later this evening. After 38 years of driving, this is my first blow-out. Pretty dang good, considering for the past 20 years, I put +22k miles per year on my cars.
Gotta see the glass half full in life!

Yup! Def could have been worse! Its blowing like hell out there today and everything is frozen again! What a difference a day makes!!! 🤣

If it was raining, and I had to change the tire on Storrow Dr, it would have really, really sucked!
 
I've had this happen before. Flat tire in the rain, about 40 degrees outside. I was on a freeway overpass and had nowhere else I could pull over. Had semi trucks whizzing past rocking the car. Got the tire changed got in the car and relaized I had blood all over me. Apparently I had peeled my knuckles but couldn't feel it because of the cold. Would not recommend. Glad your experience was less eventful. :thumbs-up:

This is why I'm grateful, because this is the kind of scenario I could have been in.
Statistics has it that a tow truck driver is one of the most deadly jobs.

I had a front tire blow out on me on I-70, right in the middle of what a friend of mine told me is the most dangerous stretch of interstate in the whole country. He owns a trucking logistics company, so I took his word for it. This happened about 4am. And the same thing... every semi that blew past me shook the car on the jack. I have never changed a tire so fast, nor more precariously.

What many don't realize is that, at highway speed, if you look and focus on something in the distance, there's a tendency for your hands to unconsciously steer towards that direction. Unfortunately, many times, when the driver realizes this, it's too late! This is why so many tow truck drivers gets killed every year.
 
I pulled out of the gas station and turned right. At the same time someone did the same move 400 or so feet to my left. Within 200 feet or less they were on my ass less than a foot off and weaving. I was a couple car links from the car in front of me. He's in a kia suv and I in a 7,000IBS truck. I lightly tap the brake for the light to come on and he wo t back off. So I reach into the front window and turn my dash cam around. I have never seen someone hit the brake so hard. The remaining 2 miles they stayed 4-8 car links back. Second of third time in 15 years I had to do that with great success.

Upon close inspection, when I got home, it looks like a drill was taken to my tire. I don't know what the heck could have created that puncture.
Anyways, I popped a plug in there and inflated the tire to 25psi. I kept it there for over an hour, while I did some stuff around the house. When I came back and checked the pressure, it held it. I even sprayed some dish washing liquid water onto the patch and no bubbling appeared. So, I went ahead and remounted the tire and fully filled to 32psi.
Fingers crossed!

I hope so! It just concerns me because I've never seen a gape like that on any tire punctures I've ever seen.
It sucked today to be driving home, on a 65mph interstate, at 55mph. Some jackass rode my tail for about 2 miles, even though I'm on the far right lane, and there were 3 other lanes that had plenty of spacing between cars, that he could have easily just went around me.

If you saw some of the debris I dodged on the interstate over the years driving to and from work you'd probably be scared to drive on interstates. I saw a chunk of metal that was probably 12" tall and 20" long. It was some heavy duty piece of scrap metal with jagged, sharp points sticking up that would send a semi into the median. I bet it weighed 50 lbs. I called 911 and told them about it after nearly hitting it. Fortunately I saw a cop going the other way while I was on the phone, and saw his lights come on. So he was likely going to move it.
 
I guess it didn't get enough of the casinos
