The 'ball' is slightly out of round. 🤔

I don't remember if I ended up using a long screw or not. The picture sure does have me second guessing myself.
So I got the 91815 stand-offs, but I think they are too slack fitting for the T5M shock caps. They dont snap in at all and there is a lot of play.

I can't really find any other option, other than teying a load of different stand-offs. I was thinking to maybe put some shrink over the ball bit, to hopefully make a snug fit?? What do you think?

Just tried using a bit of shrink on the stand-offs, but the stand-offs wouldn't fit through the shock cap. I guess it's only slightly slack then, and should be good enough for what I need. Surely won't be racing it so it should be more than fine.

Thanks again for all the help guys! It was greatly appreciated 👍!

Spoiler

Was getting a lil' floppy from some tearing, so I'm reinforcing it.... again :p I don't know how this gurney spoiler survives. I guess I could cut a new one, but that requires opening boxes trying to remember where I stored my spare Lexan pieces I saved.

I think the spoiler has some life left in it. Today's round of E6000 at the bend...

Oops. I'll get to the screw hole crack next round. 🤔

It's the small things that make me happy. Is it just me, 'cause I couldn't bear to run the ST without a spoiler. I should have done this years ago. She's not pretty, but with some added washers to better secure the spoiler with... back in action.

Steering Rack Screws

It's becoming more apparent that some areas of the truck (T4.3) need to be added to the after run checklist... steering rack screws. They work themselves loose after a few runs nowadays. I haven't had a screw come completely out, but it came close a few times. The steering rack/Ackermann bar probably gets some of the most abuse that the truck sees during a run.

I may have to look into using longer screws and a nut, but for now it's just CA glue used as a threadlocker.

Every 4-series steering linkage I’ve broken down has rust and/or dirt gumming up the bushings that those bolts pass through.

Tiny force for the servo to overcome, pretty big force acting on the nut.

Yes, I've been called many things 😁
And, yes, it's the same rotational force from pivot balls that loosens the right side shock mounting screws.
After a couple of runs with the T4.3 today, I don't think I'll have to worry about the steering rack screws anymore, but I'm still makin' plans for when the CA glue doesn't hold anymore.

My way way back burner t4 carpet oval truck i have been slowly tinkering on. I picked up the truck rtr for 100 bucks, well almost rtr. The front a arm was snapped clean off. But a good racing buddy of mine gave me pretty much a whole other truck for free, I had this old school a&l body kicking around that another buddy painted awhile ago. Always loved the hpi super star wheels , and was lucky enough to find a pretty mint set wrapped in foam tires.
