Trimmed the front spoiler and more clean up. I am trying to get the tires to clear without to much cutting.
I kinda like this bumper for a “street” truck.

Not sure yet. Looking at the Marlin Crawler it is cut to the bottom of the lights. Legal in class 1.
These tires are 4.39 and the limit of class 1 is 4.1 so I’m using these tires to fit because they are bigger and the look cool. Mostly they look cool. I guess they can rub but not bind.

Having to think about covering the shock hoops in the bed with scale accessories. Maybe a cooler and a tool box .

I'd stick with those tires if you can get away with them, they look great on there. Good thinking on covering the shock hoops.

I really like these wheels. This is the tow truck for the class 2 rig. I can also use the 4.1 tires to hide the shock hoops . The reality is I will only need the smaller tires for competition. So anywhere from never to a couple weeks a year.

Got a coat of primer down just to get a look at things. It’s the last of that can so I’ll probably sand most of it off and use a lighter color primer for the next coat.
Thinking red maroon kinda satin finish.

I did not expect the VS410 rear bumper to fit. And actually it did not. But I used a front bumper bracket that needed to be reamed. And I cut away a huge amount of the rear bumper. But this is all I need. It’s super light and has a trailer hitch.
Done for the night. But the comp team is coming together. Need to build a trailer now that I have a hitch.

Lots of work to do on the class 1 paint also.

I put my chrome front bumper in the degreaser over night and sure enough it removed the chrome.
I was going to paint it black to match the rear. But the style is really different. Plus the place I craw is big rocks so having a body mounted plastic bumper may look cool, I know it will get broken off. So I tried the front bumper from my VS410. It fits and matches the rear bumper.

The set of vanquish bumpers is 16 bucks. I am just going to put shiny new bumpers on my VS 410 and use the ones I have.

Ok so I got the bumper back as far as I can. It is still a mm or two further forward than I want but I think it’s OK.
I had to cut 6mm of frame from the front and cut the bumper mount back some. But over all the height is good. The approach angle is good. I think it’s a good fit.

Looks great on there. I thought you were leaving the oem bumper on it. But this looks just as good.

I was but when the VS410 bumper fit the back I was not happy with the different bumpers.
Plus now I have all the wheel clearance I need.

I got a base coat down. I was up at 3:00 am to look at the moon and found a run. I sanded that out and it all looks good. Next I’m going to try to wet sand this with 400 not burn any edges. Then put on the final color coat before the clear.

I bought some plastic sheet and am I thinking about some sort of shock covers for the bed. Don’t know how that will go.

Probably kinda gotta go lights. It has all the markers and running lights so it would look cool. I hate the wires but I have a whole light kit from a Trx6 I can use.

The trailer should be here this weekend. I think I’ll do a build thread on that separately from this thread.

This is awesome for the grill and those stupid little white spots on the plastic pieces from breaking it off the mold tree.

I have those in my list to get. I saw a vid where they did some wheels with them and they looked really close to chrome.

Oh, and whenever I remove parts from a sprue, I use my flush cutters. They work great at minimizing those nasty tree remnants.

On sharp edges and corners it’s perfect. Big flat surface is not that bad, but not chrome.

13 bucks each. And the come in different widths. I got the 1mm so I can just do the grill and touch up the light bezels. Not doing the bumpers.

I bought some Createx and Spazstix mirror chrome for my airbrush, but have yet to try them. Pretty soon though I will be.

I have been thinking about an air brush. I have a compressor in my shop all the time so I just need to get a cheap one. I have no talent and the airbrush would make it obvious.

They are easier than you think. A good cheap one is a Master brand gravity feed dual action.
