So, What R/C Did You Run Today?

We ran quite a few RC today!, as a family activity, so fun. Hubby set up a slalom course through the yard using sprinkler flags.
He ran our new MJX Bronco.
I ran the race buggy, til the drive pinion came loose (gotta make adjustments there). I ran my TRX4 for a bit with no body, because I need stronger magnets for the Rovair...looking that up now.
Then we all wound down playing with the crawlers with the Hubby's new Ascent 18, kiddos Ascent Scout and my FMS land cruiser. It was a good day!
Cold though, we all had some cold fingers after playing for about an hour, worth it 😄

Sounds like a great day!

I finally got the stickers on the Pro-line Viper GTS body, for my Losi 1/12 NASCAR which I've upgraded with BLX parts (harvested from my Mojave GROM).
It's a lot of fun! The Avenger wheels are very grippy and stood up to some moderate street bashing during my first run today. I hope to put together a video showing the build process soon.

Just took the Rockhound Wrecker for its maiden voyage to test my ride height, 4ws and electronics settings. Let's just say I'm ecstatic at how well this thing runs the creek bed, charging up and heading back out to play in one of the canyon washouts. More pictures to come

it dried out enough to get some runs in.
losi XX
RC10 graphite chassis
Kyosho Stadium Baja

i was planning on running the RC10T3 and Savage XS as well, but by the time the batteries charge it'll be to dark. and its supposed to rain from tomorrow until like the 8th. so aside from maybe a garage drift session with the Mini Z or a run or 2 with the winter beater after parts arrive, i think I'm pretty much done running for the year. have plenty of maintenance to do though.

Ran Slash and typhon
Slash I put the Talon EXTs on from the Rusty since the Hyrax's are worn down alot. Ran for about 20 minutes before the esc went in some protection mode. Probably bc of the water and slush on the motor bullets it esc. Did some drifting on the ice
Typhon also drifted on the ice and ran through the slush although my servo kept locking up. I'm pretty sure it's because it's hitting the stall torque. S665 spektrum if anyone wants to know. Because it's too low of a kg for a 1/8 for the snow and water atleast. The servo saver being ultra sloppy doesn't help the servo either. Plus the overall servo was weak anyways with the water and slush. Got a 9imod HV aluminum case servo in the cart right now. Been needing one for a while.

The temperature actually got up out of the single digits yesterday and I got outside to run a battery through my Rival MT10; first run since I filled the differentials properly from their out-of-the-box, near-empty state. I think it was a noticeable improvement but it's hard to say, considering this run was on semi-packed snow left on my driveway after snowblowing versus the frozen crust on the snow in the yard I ran on last.

I also used a new battery with a proper Deans connector on it. Last run, I used a battery with an EC5 with a no-wire EC5-to-T-style adapter from an eBay seller. The adapter got hot enough to melt the solder and break the connection. I'm not a big fan of Deans on a model this size so I'll probably convert the MT10's ESC to EC5.

I bought same connectors from ebay. (Prob same seller too 🤣) Mine welded the 2 deans connectors together.
Those adapters might be ok for charging but anything high current and they are going to fail.
I eliminated the deans and put on an XT60.
I've had a few sucessful runs now. I think its fixed. 😎🤞

I think the quality of the connector is real important too, not just the design of the plug.

My adapters were not soldered well either.

Lots of things can go wrong in 1 inch of Mickey Mouse wiring!!! 🙄🤷‍♀️🤣

Yup... lesson learned, and without horrible consequences or great expense, so not too bad a thing overall.

I'm with you on the connector quality thing. The cheap IC5 connectors on those adapters fit so tight to the battery IC5s I could barely get them apart. I kept them lubed up with Ox-Guard and that hardly helped. I'm ordering some Amass EC5s for my upgrades.

Wow! You have some ice! It all came down as snow here in northeastern NY.

I would like to make up a set of studded tires for icy RCing though... we always get an ice storm or two or a smooth frozen lake or pond.

I'm surprised myself too. Super thick in the backyard. Got the car stuck on the other side of the fence where the ladder is. Walked down there. Ice didn't break. At all. Car is gonna be stuck in the yard for a while. We need higher temps. Lol
