At my mom's for family time. This is Lily. My mom's 8 yr old schnauzer! Black n white schnauzers are called 'Parti' for the color. Louie was salt n pepper. She's following me around today! I always bring Louie so idk what she's thinking. Lily usually kinda keeps arms distance but today she's being my lap dog. Sweet girl!

We've had these boys since Jul 2021 after driving to OKC to pick 'em. We originally went for Odie (white and brown) but wound up also brining Milo home. The lady from the Cocker Rescue and my wife were chipping Odie with our info when she looked over and saw Milo leaning hard against me while I was keeping he and his sister Lulu company - she'd brought Milo just in case Odie didn't like us, and Lulu's her dog. She said, "Oh wow - he never does that." I'm like, "Never does what?" She said, "Warms up to complete strangers like that." I looked at my wife and she asked, "Do you want him, too?" Well, Yes, of course! Milo's left eye is completely blind with cataracts and he was 6 (Odie was 3) and I got to thinking that older, imperfect dogs never get adopted, so we brought 'em both home.

Here's a pic of Odie from the rescue website - always looking so serious, even though he's a total lick-monster:

We didn't have any 'mug shot' pics of Milo, since we didn't even know about him until we arrived. Neither of them had met one another until that day, but they've been bestie's ever since. Here's the best pic of him I got from that day:

They took about 5 minutes to figure out what was going on and that they were cool with each other. Poor Odie's chip owie took forever to heal up, so we put one of Lulu's little doggie diapers on him (she was completely blind and a bit incontinent, but super lovable - no wonder Anita kept her). I can't believe how skinny they were. I think we got a few pounds back on 'em since we've had 'em, but they're at more healthy weights now - the vet's been really happy with the care we've given them, willing to pay for allergy tests and whatever it takes to get 'em healthy. Odie wouldn't have made it in a 'just a dog' home - he's allergic to just about everything little dogs shouldn't be allergic to (chicken, beef, pork, dairy, peanut butter, and all sorts of other things), but we changed his diet to an egg & rice based food which gave him the mega-farts, but he's healthier and happier, which is all that matters. Milo has lower GI issues with occasional bloody stool, but changing his diet and adding some fiber supplements has helped keep that under control. They both LOVE green beans and think that's the best treats ever. Hey - a 4-pack can of Green Giant green beans is a LOT cheaper than a box of Milk Bones any day (they get doggie turkey jerky and maro snacks, too).

Both are special needs dogs. In addition to Odie's allergies, they've both got super bad separation anxiety (sings the songs of his people if we even just go out in the back yard and leave them inside for a few minutes). Milo's about as mellow as can be, but gets concerned and starts whining when we leave them alone, and both will shred any napkins, tissues, or anything of the like if given a chance. Anita gave us a crate after asking if we had one (nope, never crated our boys... ever). I asked if they wanted to hop in the crate so we could go to sleep, and they both just looked at me like, "Really?" Yeah... that's what I thought. "As you were, boys."

Once we got home, Anita called and asked if the boys were getting used to being in a new place with us, and I told her we weren't having any problems whatsoever.

Yeah, I'd say they were doing just fine.

They were NOT happy when we had to put the fence in for the pool (we didn't want to take any chances of them chasing a ball and falling in).

But, like I said, they're besties now, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The cats on the other hand, are NOT happy. We got home and Katie (Mom's Siamese) was on the back of the couch when we came in and was like, "Oh good, you're home... Wait... what is THAT?! Oh sh!t, there's two of 'em!" And PEW! Off like a shot to go hide, with both boys in chase. Cleo was crashed somewhere and didn't come out until later that night when I took the boys to bed. Needless to say, we now literally have a gated community within our home. The cats have their 'room,' and the entry way is the DMZ. Katie finally got sick with end-of-life kidney issues and we had to let her go about a month ago, but Cleo's tired of being cooped up and trying to make friends with the boys. I guess we'll see if we can get them better acclimated together. Odie could care less, but Milo's infatuated with the cat(s) - not sure if he wants to kiss or kill 'em, so we've kept 'em more or less separated.
