RC Driving Style
I got my first nitro car last week, i dont know anythign about the way it works etc. all i wanted was a bit of fun. The car is 4 wheel shaft driven, so i expected all 4 wheels to be spinning together maybe not at the same speed with all these diffs and things out there. But the rear wheels didnt spin at all, not even at full throttle. And then today, on the cars 3rd ever run it lost all power to the wheels, no wheels were spinning. I htought there was a problem with it form the beginning, coz my mate bought the exact car too and his is 4 wheel drive. I dont know enough about them to start messing round with it and diagnosing the problem. I want to know should this be happening? The car was run in properly (v/ time consuming too) and it has ONLY been run on the paths at the park, no crashes, one flip but the was on grass, but surely that can't be enuff to break the gearing. What should i do?
 
What kind of car do you have? It could be a number of things. You could have blown the diffs. Check to see that your dogbones are still there, stripped spur gears...things like that.
 
Did you build this yourself or was it already put together?

Knowing what brand and model will help us out alot in helping you to determine the problem.
 
did the motor move away from the spur gear?
Give us the info on the car so we can help
 
it was RTR out the box. Its only a cheap make, smartech or summink aint got it to hand. Just for a doss about in the park every once in a while. The motor is still conencted to the spur gear, wen the car is off i can roll it forward about 6 inches then the wheels lock up at the gear box. I can seem to see any problems with anything stuck in its way. Wat do i do
 
well if you got it a week ago id say take it back and get a diffrent one or have it fixed either of those 2 at the hobby stores expence

also if its only on a 3rd run and its nitro did you even break in the motor that alone takes about 4-6 tanks
 
Sounds like something is binding in the gearbox man. When in the air lifted can you spin the rear tires freely??? Same for the front?? If either one is not spinning freely than you r problem is in there. If both spin freely than your problem is in the gear box. You should as least take off the cover to the gear box and see if there is a rock binding it or something. In a worst case scenario could be a tweaked chassis, touring cars aren't always made with the strongest chassis to begin with.
 
right I've solved it, had a good look after cleaning it, there was a little bit of wood that had got itself trapped in betweent the drive shaft. Also think i have found the problem about the rear wheels. Thx for all ur help guys.
