Here is the list of items i have on order for the backyard crawler. It isn't crazy expensive but should still be strong and very capable.

AX-10 ARTR (comes with HD lockers, rear lockout and a few other goodies)
Novak Goat 18.5
Hitec 5955
MIP Center and front shafts
RCP high clearance knuckles
Maxamps 2S lipo
Low COG battery tray

I think thats it.

everything should be here monday or tuesday so i will have pictures up. I will keep this first post updated with everything.

I would go with a good brushed motor from JRH and get a sidewinder from castle. I run a Mamba Max and a 3 cell on just about everything I own

i would too but with the deal i got on the Goat, its hard to say no. i have a mamba max sitting here so i may grab a motor from jrh sometime to check it out.
Its just that i NEVER compete and its going to crawl on rocks in the backyard. so it needs to be nice but not unreal

cool bro, WILL be fun.

Right now I am running the ARTR with the Goat. I eventually going to go with the MIP shafts after my stock of Traxxas Stampede shafts are depleted. The Goat is very smooth, responsive and very powerful. I would highly recommend it. I personally think brushless is the way to go just for the ease of use.

The goats are ok, I've had two of them, and they're nice for someone who just wants a plug and play unit and isn't so concerned about performance. But nothing compares to the power or the smooth low speed control that you have with a holmes hobbies handwound brushed motor or cobalt. I like brushless a lot as well, but in my comp rig, I haven't found anything that will work better than the handwound and puller motors geared low with high voltage.

once you get into the high end, its all relative. give a goat to someone who runs a 27T saturn with a Jolt and they will say its God's gift to RC. You're right, its not the ultimate solution but its for sure not a bad system.

Exactly, it's all relative. Congratulations on the new purchase. I know how exciting it is waiting on something, and nothing gets me excited like a crawler. I hope you enjoy it a lot, and I can't wait to get over there and do some crawling.

thanks!

Here is the latest.
I have my Novak Goat, RCP knuckles, Axial battery tray, and MIP front cvd's, and a Hitec 5955 sitting on my desk. I would take pictures but those are pretty common parts and not all that cool.
The truck is scheduled to be here wednesday and i am just trying to get everything together so i can have this thing ready to go for the weekend.

heck ya man, hope u get it done in time for the ever so relaxing weekend crawl lol. keep us up to date.

Good luck with everything, I hope you get to spend some time crawling over the weekend. I'm hoping to take my comp rig out this coming weekend as well. The next weekend I'm going to be in Houston, so maybe we can go crawling.

look at this MIP shaft!!! before you say, that ain't so big. go get a deans and look at it.

Like the old lady said, "Where's the beef??" It's in that MIP driveshaft. It puts the weight where you need it as well, nice and low.

it certainly is in that shaft.

i am going crazy waiting on the truck. ups is normally very fast when coming to work and its been showing as departed from san pablo,ca for 3 days now.

It's probably getting pretty darn close but they haven't updated the tracking. Either that, or the UPS guys got your ARTR, and my Spektrum DX3R, hitec 7955 TG, and holmes hobbies handwound motor, along with your LiPo batteries, and they're having a field day crawling on boxes in the warehouse lol. Hell, they might have put Rob's Warthog chassis on just for added protection.

the part that burns me up is that i ordered some stuff from newegg yesterday (california as well) and it will be here tommorow. bring me my freaking truck UPS!!!!!!!!!

I order from newegg.com a lot, and I can't figure out how they manage to get stuff to me so fast. My Spektrum DX3R and bug bodies shipped out on the 24th from RPP, and they're showing expected deilvery date of 31, which is Thursday.
