Hello! I'm getting back into the R/C hobby and really want to see what I need to do to get into the racing scene. I'm not sure what brand or platform I would be looking at so recommendations would be awesome! And if anyone knows of good places to practice? I use to go to INDY RC and Mikes Hobby shop years ago, but I know unfortunately they are both closed..

I'm not in Texas but I know alot due to MSM, Mark Santa Maria on YouTube. He races for Tekno (for 1/8) and used to race at Indy. Most of the time he's at Thornhill raceway now. Don't know how far that is to you. Or RCCA which is indoor carpet. (Onroad/off-road)

If looking at a 8th scale buggy id go Tekno. Super durable cars. Associated, Xray, TLR, Mugen, SWorkz, all popular chassis. Or heck I seen people race RTR arrma Typhons before.

Welcome to RCT

I'm not a racer anymore, and have no interest in starting again, but it looks like you got some good info from the young 'un.

Tekno for sure. I own, and beat on several. I’ve owned them all lol-Kyosho, Associated, Losi, Mugen, Xray, Jammin, Hobao, you get the idea.. You’d be hard pressed to get a more capable, reliable, durable, or faster buggy for your hard earned money IMO.. Feel free to click my name, search my threads, and read through my build threads..

I also have an Associated build thread you could draw comparisons from.. 🍻🤘
