Not pooh poohing on your idea, I think it's great to have somewhere to race, but there is a ton of logistics to think about. What type of track first off. Off-road dirt, dirt oval, crawler course, paved on road? Are you in a residential neighborhood, will the neighbors mind 20-30 cars/trucks in front of the house? Power for charging stations? Bathrooms and such facilities? Permits from the town..lord knows they want their cut..especially up here in Mass. I believe if you build a place to race, then yes people will come race. Awesome idea and I do hope it works out. I would love more places to run cars.

Some times the saying build it and they will come is the play here.

To start, I would look into if there is a facility in your area. If not then maybe there is a void.
If you have a local hobby shop stop in and ask about the local scene;
- Is there racing somewhere you don't know about?
- What is going on with the hobby in your area?
- Do people enquire with them about local tracks or racing?

I would do some research on your location to see if there's a viable case to opening one yourself.

And then there is the stuff mentioned above that will need to be considered once you move past the "idea" phase.

Good luck!

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!! 😁👍😎

I think a track is a great idea! I don't think I'll be able to make it there to race tho. Maine is a long way away. 😉

Have you contacted any rc groups, gone to any local tracks or any other attempts to meet more local racers?

One huge advantage is that you are in Texas. Especially if you live in a rural area there are a lot of things you can do with no neighbor approval required, and minimal to no permitting required. Although always nice to be neighborly about it. Great when you want to do stuff on property you own, not so great when next door neighbor builds a gun range LOL.

Fwiw I built a small dirt oval [1/18] for me to run and test mods etc. Now that I have let people know 2 guys have bought the 1rc sprint cars and will be here to race once the snow clears out.
We do have a lhs with some great tracks, but no dirt ovals close by so that may be a factor. Got another guy I know who built a 1/10 oval and he has plenty of guys who show up. They have lighting and can run after dark.
What's available and what you put into it make the difference.

Hello everybody I’m new to this forum. Thinking about building a nice track here in garland tx was wondering if I build will anyone come racin?
Man, if I was nearby, then hell yeah!

If there's a nearby rc shop, you could probably put up fliers to get racers to participate.

A quick Google search show a lot of RC activities in the Dallas/Fort Worth area including a fair amount of shops. I'd do some research to see if there's a niche track you could build.

not so great when next door neighbor builds a gun range LOL.
