OK new here but been playing with RCs all my life, hence no wife. Thanks 1st of all for the warm welcome, and thanks for showing you're never too old to play with toys.
So I got a ton of advice on painting my SCX6 Honcho cab as it is being converted from the Jeep. Sunny day today so I should be doing this possibly.
This thread is for advice on a new ESC as I believe the stock can is 4S compatible but the ESC is only 3. It even states this in the manual. I want a little extra bit of oomph without having to result in an ESC/CAN combo that costs more than the truck.

So I already have a Axe Pro 3 2000KV combo and ran it in there, just that it went onto a LOSI LMT V1.
My question is, suitable ESC 4S obviously minimum, that has the same sensor cable configuration that the stock CAN/ESC has. I have read people doing this and have seen 1 guy run the stock motor on 6S (mental).

Is there any that runs stock can with different ESC at all? I also want a better BEC config with newer ESC as the stock one is only good for 7.4 volts.

^^ OK I Googled and found my own answer as they're both 4S compatible, so what I would like to know further is, getting a better ESC for a better BEC result due to my upgraded servo. 8.4 volts would be the best and I am fairly familiar with Hobbywing stuff, it's just the Sensor cable compatibility.

Sorry for the confusion and T.I.A

Here is my make shift spray booth, I wont have enough paint to finish, but I don't care, I am just going to finish this as I have been procrastinating and also waiting on other stuff to arrive.
I never even washed the inside, just wiped it down with my t shirt, all because I really don't care that much lol.
This rig has not really been driven for almost a year, so my patience has worn thin, and having an energy drink with 31 C windy hot day doesn't make things any smoother.

Well I have the interior done, just need to wait till the shell is finished, ie I run out of paint, then will assemble it all. I have all the tools to do it the right way, just none of the patience. I am in a hard place and rock, as the window of opportunity to paint is hit and miss, today it's 31C, tomorrow it's raining, so this has been something that has been on going in last few weeks.
That's why I have jumped all over this and I know I will have mixed results, in the end, I can always remove the paint and do it all over again.

The outcome was horrible, the stickers never got applied correctly, it was a total CF, and I ran out of paint, but you know what? I don't care, because now I have the truck I want, with out those woeful issues of the body on/off dramas. This goes on so easily compared to the Jeep, but I never realized this Honcho body never came with a bumper, so ordered the last one here in my country, the Demello Front Bumper.
I have no side rails so that is next on the to buy list too.

You don't need a new ESC to have a better BEC. Just grab an external BEC. 10A should be good enough, but they do make bigger ones. Here is what you need...

Castle 10A BEC

You also need a Castle Link programmer to change the output voltage of the Castle BEC.

Here is the wiring diagram.

The BEC will be plugged into the auxillary channel to feed power to the Rx. So you need to make sure to disconnect the power wire from your ESC to the Rx, so you don't fry things. You can simply press the pin in gently on the power wire in the JR connector on the cable from the ESC until the wire pulls out. Fold the wire back on itself and use some heat shrink tubing to prevent it from making contact with anything "sparky" 😉

I tried replying to both posters re the BEC, I already have a HW 10 amp one, just not keen on running 3 batteries due to the newer size.
This is just a dog walker, I need it to be as simple as possible, so that's why I went the Honcho, simple to remove the body, and much easier than the Jeep.
This is why I would like the easiest solution, sure it wont be the cheapest, but that doesn't bother me, you might say that it's just another battery, but I have a 28 KG pup here and she likes to get away from me, so knowing I only have a simple on/off switch, and I can access it in not time, it stresses me less if I do take her and the Honcho out.
I appreciate your efforts, but in this case as I have already wired up a HW 10 amp BEC, I think the better solution would be maybe a MAX 6.
That why I am asking about the sensored wire, I have reached out to people on YT, but never answered me.

MAX 6 with stock can This guy here has the MAX 6 installed.
This is what I have in mind, I cannot get the inrunner black jacket so am better off getting something like this. I do intend to convert this to 6WD one day, that's why I wanted to get the Honcho conversion.

I have never seen a sensired ESC work with another brand sensored motor. I don't believe they will be compatible. But it has been known for Hobbywing to make rebranded electronics for others, so if the sensor cables are the same, I don't believe it will hurt to try it.

Black Friday sales will be here on the 28th of November. If you wait til then, you will likely be able to get a Hobbywing Max6 combo for the same price the ESC is now. Last year, Hobbywing had some killer deals during black friday.

When in doubt, cover every inch of the body in stickers (except the windows). ;)

So I am on a pre-order for a MAX6 combo, 1650kv 4990 can. I think it will be perfect for me and I should be able to get some money back from the sale of the stock esc/can and Jeep shell.
I am wanting to make this into a 6WD beast, so the next steps are going to be costly, but it's where I want to be, have something that goes over everything, but doesn't jump like a maniac.

I did try the 4S on stock can, that is stupidly powerful, so this new setup is going to be some serious fun, the Honcho vs the Jeep for cog is night and day, I can actually now drive the Honcho on 4S.

I've thought about trying that as well but I'm pretty rough on my trucks and I've had zero luck with anything 3d printed lasting me
I hope you get it lined out so I can then try as well lol

Tough pill to swallow because they want 2K AUD for that rear assembly, we get hit for import tax for anything over 1K, the company that makes these wont break them down so we can buy in parts, I might email them and see if there is a work around.
I don't mind paying the 2K, just that the extra tax is something that could make it far more expensive.
