Axial SCX6 6x6 work in progress

So I went ahead and changed over the diffs as the diff housings never came with them. The rear sits fine, the front doesn't grind but you can feel it turn over.
I suspect the mesh hasn't worn in properly, I re-toothed it, just changing the spur a little and it's smoother.
I have seen someone post a vid where it was hard getting the ends off the rear when he was switching over to portals, I don't have that issue and am not going to tighten anything where it would cause an issue, when the other gear drops, I should be ready to go.
Not much else I can do here, and I can't order more diffs as they will take another 2 weeks to land.
It all appears to be slowly coming together.

EDIT, I might be getting the limited slip diffs, maybe just for the front so I have better turning and keep the rears locked for the 6wd if it happens.

So I wrote there was an issue with the front axle housing where the diff appears to be rubbing on the inside of the case when I tighten up the cover.
I have a shim on there so removed the diff and placed it on the other side, was much smoother, then ate dinner, then got to thinking, do I really need the shim.
Answer was no, because the og axle housings are made from plastics, they have more give, less tolerances than what I have now, after replacing the diff without the shim, it is smooth as butter.

Cheers, I didn't make em though lol, but I have seen people wear gloves when handling them, I am like wtf?
I am happy with the quality and was in 2 minds about the purchases, but you need to spend money to get good quality these days.
That grease you see on the pinion and spur, that's from my year old truck, I think I have ran it like 5 times so maybe 2 hrs use.
What is really weird is, I think I have almost enough parts to make another truck I have the Jeep shell and wheels, servo, can, esc, other stuff, I mean I could have possibly built a truck from scratch, but it just turns out some sort of upgrade path we never really thought about at the start.

Thos made me LOL! 🤣🤣🤣

They ARE nice parts after all. 🤷‍♀️

I bet you'll have a 'parts build' soon. Seems like lots of ppl build them and love them. 👍😎

My other parts which were purchased separately (3 orders), are all showing as Custom clearance started.
Last time this happened, I think I got the delivery 2-3 days later, the good thing is, they've now pooled all 3 deliveries as one. I should have this early next week, looking forwards to it and will put on my gloves when assembling!!

Well this is good news, it's at my local airport, so needs to clear customs then delivered to me, that normally takes 2 or 3 days.
One thing I will have to say is, well whilst I support local businesses, the hobby store that I was buying stuff from, they don't really care that much, and as previously posted, they had the brand Vitavon on their website but weren't interested in ordering for me. I am more inclined to use ALiexpress for all my other stuff, as the delivery is insane regarding how quick it is.

That's a 3K AUD loss to them I guess.
This update reflects all 3 orders too.

Just got notification that my stuff has cleared customs, which means I should be seeing these bits in a few days.
Happy days.

Edit, I do want to ask, originally I got some cheap steel diffs that did not fit my SCX6, the ends were too small to fit on the drive shafts, so I had to use my original SCX6 plastic ends to make do.
But what I found was the diffs were out of balance, that's why I got the Vitavon ones, hoping they're more balanced.
So when installing these, is there a particular trick to get them balanced, I now you need to offset 180 degrees from 1 to the other to stop any real wobble.
It could just be the case that my other steel ones were poorly made, so is there a trick with steel diffs or should I be ok?

Got this notification today, I was sort of spazzing out before and spoke with Aliexpress, they combined all my 3 orders which meant that I would be paying import duties on top.
Then I realized all 3 was under the import tax duty threshold, so all is good in RC land.
I should have delivery in next 2 days or so, probably tomorrow if the RC Gods are nice to me.

Well this is good news, guess who is not walking the dog today?
Now given I have read some interesting things happen to people using Aliexpress, I am going to be doing a video of opening the packages,
Not that I don't trust them, but need proof that everything is there as expected.

You can be thankful this year if you get your stuff! Or at least have lots of turkey. 🤞😁

I wish you luck! Ali is too shady for me. I won't use them. 😐

Yeah it's a risk for sure, but I am buying from the manufacturer and have emailed the stores official website to ensure the storefront on Ali is them.
Fingers xed, that last part I need is the riskiest part, the difference from eBay to Ali is $300, and that's what I need to weigh up.

We don't eat turkey here, we just throw shrimps on the barbie :D

Lucky for all your turkeys I guess. Not so much for the shrimp tho! 🤣
I'm not sure if I'll be eating any turkey this year but I'm surrounded by them 24/7!🙄

I don't know why but I feel like most of the happy Ali stories come frome EU, AU... US seems mixed.

$300 is a lot to think about too tho! 🤔👍

Well if I had of bought everything from eBay, it would have probably cost me an additional $600, so that means my axle housings I got for free in this instance.
It's a lot to absorb, for that sanity. I would not have been able to afford it otherwise, more so, justify is the right wording.
I have been tinkering with the idea of making my own 4x6 conversion, by doing the original idea, my only investment would be a chassis purchase.
So the rear wheels would not have a drive shaft, they would just be load bearing, middle wheels would be powered as the fronts would.
If that doesn't work, I could always convert that to a trailer.

As for shrimp, they had it coming.

Justification is for the weak! 😉🤣

I've heard some sea creatures are pure evil. 🤣

Happy building!!! 👍😎

So here it is, was bucketing down as I was working on this, ground was wet and ran in some dog poop which I got on my esc and hands too.
I never run my trucks in water, this was a one off, washed it down, need to wait now for a sunny day and the park to dry out.
Half my luck, just checked the weather and it's raining every day till next Wed.
I put locktight on some of the stuff, specifically the portals how they connect to the axle housings.
This was a pretty straight forward job, took me about 3 hours in total, and having looked at the rear chassis, I might be making a free wheel extension, so 6 wheels, 4WD.
Chassis is like $100 from memory. If that fails, I can make a trailer out of it.
So that vid I did, wasn't much, just a test, on 4S, you can only imagine what it will be on 6S, but I need to get a series harness to do that, and I will.

EDIT:

I will add, the quality of the Vitavon parts are great, this is specifically for the diffs, I was lucky I was able to put them on whilst all the links were attached, there is almost zero wobble when the spin up, which is good. I also made sure when I did put them on, not to take them apart and forget where they were set from factory, I guess I could have drawn a line from 1 to the other, and I will do this in future, just that they slid on perfectly and quite surprisingly, do more than expected. I swear my other ones had a possibly wobble of more than 5mm.
