Do you have a First Aid Kit? Is it close at hand? I never had one until the very early '90s when I started mountain bike riding in Moab Utah. Both me and my friends used "my" First Aid Kit. It's all good, they needed it and I was happy to help.

I bring this up because over the weekend I cut my foot pretty bad. Blood ALL over the house. I was so glad of my First Aid Kit being close and where I can find it fast. Very thankful I put it together years ago. Can't tell you how many times this Kit has been there to help me out.

If you don't have one they're very easy to make. I purchased a plastic fishing tackle box and started stuffing everything I could think I would need in it. As I type this I'm considering all the items I need to replenish what's in that box. No time like the present, right?

Maybe some of you don't have a FAK. Please consider putting one together. At some point in time you'll be very glad you did. 😎👍

I've always carried A First Aid kit. learned that back when I was a ski patrol member. We had a belt. Front med tape to screen splints. and smelling salts..and many rools of ace bandage..I also have 2 fire blankets now... its all in a 2.5 gallon bucket with a Red cross on top and sides..
I also . Have a How to Treat a Traumatic Injury from 1976 I even have a hacksaw blade 3..a few other handfuls of med gear. Hemos. water safe pills.. empty container...shovel

can ull decipher my post?

I have a roll of duct tape and paper towels 🤣

But yeah, probably a good idea to stock up on other things that might be needed.
Duct tape is stupid useful for cuts lol

Storytime. Everyone loves a scar story right?

Back when I to use to ride I split my knee open with about a 1” gash to the bone. Was getting ready to leave for urgent care and not even 5 minutes later my Buddy nose cased a transfer and landed straight on his face and KOd himself. We ended up both going to the hospital but I was focused on him and forgot about my knee. We didn’t have time to stick around for another visit, we were at the ER and I asked the desk for a bandaid for my knee and they couldn’t even find one which blows my mind. so I just held the gash together with some tape and was careful not to bend my knee for 12 hours. Ended up being one of the most well healed scars I have lol

Buddy ended up having to get his lip stitched and had a pretty good concussion but was back to riding the next week

I learned from an ER doctor that one of the most effective emergency laceration treatment item is super glue. Yep, just apply it into the open wound and hold the wound shut for a few minutes.
I believe this is a common military first aid practice as well.

I’ve had 2 that were glued instead of stitched, seems to work pretty well and you don’t have to take out the stitches. The glue just falls off. I imagine that just use a sterile form of super glue.

I’ll have to try that next time with some tire glue. It holds my fingers together pretty damn well

I have two pretty good ones; one I keep in my car and one in the house. Technically the one in my house is on my gun belt that I wear to comp's...but it's still fairly readily available

They actually do sell sterile form of super glue for this exact medical purpose. However, the ER doc was telling us how he was out surfing, before he came in for that particular shift, and a surfer near him gashed his foot open on the coral. The doctor went to his truck, grabbed a regular tube of super glue and sealed the cut to stop the bleeding and kept further contaminates from getting in. He told the surfer he should seek further medical attention, and went back surfing.

I have one in the house and a mountain biking one in my car. The one in my car has only been used 4 times, a Traxxas Rustler twice, Stampede, and a Kraton. The Kraton knocked me on my a$$. If you drive with your kids wear a helmet.

I use super glue on my cuts all the time, Mrs. Doom teases me about it but it works. We have a cabinet we keep first aid supplies in, and a first aid kit in both of our cars.

If you get in an accident at my house, you better be man enough to get first aid from me. I'm liable to disinfect your cut with brake cleaner and stitch it up using .08" weed eater string! 🤣 🤣 🤣

That's better than a Benedryl suppository 🤪

You see most here are To young to remember when benis were in a pill and had micro beads in them and you could pull pills apart and the beads would go everywhere..that was before the nutjob in Chicago put cyanide in benis so they went to solids pill form
