Hey Ed,

The house looks great my friend. Hopefully when you read this they will have completed the wood flooring. I hope my basement turns out as nice as your uspstairs. They should start sometime next week... I hope. Keep those pics coming!

Tom

I'm stuck in faucet hell at the moment. I can't believe the price of quality fixtures. I found the stuff I like but some of the parts are on backorder. Of course they are the installation parts that have to go behind the walls. Seems to be about 3-4 weeks out.

After getting a quote for the fixtures @ 3400.00 I was able to find them on the Internet for 2100.00 but again the parts are on backorder. ERRRRR.... Now I need to find another product that is available.

Never ending.....

I have access to the bigger supply houses if you would like me to check stock for you. I also get the trade discounts through my business. LMK

I found another distributor to work with and got it all ordered. It will be here tomorrow. They are shipping out of Freemont CA, next day ups for no charge.
All in all I only paid $7.00 more so I'm happy.

Thanks for the offer.
They also only charged me for 1 sink faucet and shipped 2......
I called them up to make sure they got the order right and he said it was his fault so didnt adjust the price.

That's all well and good, but how much did you pay for your watch? :D
OUCH!!!! :D
I deserved that one.

I was hoping someone would have tosed this stuff in my X-Mass stocking.
After all its not much.
Whats a few K?

^^^^^^^Hehehehe!!! Nice digs boys. It ain't much just a faucet and some wood ya know! LOL

I hear ya on the faucets, I was going to replace the one's in our master bath when I did some work in there and about poop when I saw the price tag. Again, waiting for the new house!

I am in the same position as Jet. I recently decided to move away from upgrades to my house and await the next home. Next one maybe the last, anyhow. Depends on land prices where I am looking. Unless the Ledson Winery comes on the market for a good price!

At this point we owe so little and the house is worth so, much we will most likely keep it for a long time. We made the decision to sink some cash into it not for resale value but for quality of living. We aren’t going hog wild with the upgrades but are choosing high quality products for the upgrades we are making. We are doing the normal things. Floors, bathrooms, kitchen, window coverings, patio, and furniture.

It simply amazes me at the prices that these companies get for their products. I know damn well the manufacturing cost difference from a cheap faucet to a great one isn’t 90%. It just gets my goat to know that even at a bargain; they are getting the better of me. O-well….. At times like this the Jew in me comes out. (Am I aloud to say that?)

Still a free country, unless the PC police are listening in.

I get your point. All plans I make after age 40 were in search of retirement. Nice to be almost through a 15 year mortgage.

I hear you on this "quality" equals outlandish retail pricing thing.

The stories I could tell you about designers and the CRAP they design. All in all, if you think the house stuff prices are bad stick it in something with wings! $350K for DirecTV, yes that is K as in $350,000.00 and that doesn't include programming! LOL
House looks like it's coming along great Ed!

Well we are off to a good start on the bathroom now.
We are in the process of making the shower 12 inches deeper and putting a 12 inch deck in the back of the tub. After that we get new tile, vanity, and counter tops.

The guys I have doing it are working from 5-7 each evening as a side job. They got the demo done in 3 hours and are going to do the framing and move the tub tomorrow then the pluming the day after.

Progress looks great Ed, I'm glad you took this pic so I know NOT to attempt this type of work on my own!

the gold frames had to go....i love them deep tubs...you need a big water heater

Everything is now brushed nickel. Gold was cool 12 years ago when we got the house but is tacky now. We are also installing a pure glass shower enclosure that will eliminate 99% of all the metal around the shower. Haven’t made up our mind if it will have an accent strip of nickel across the top or not.

I’m having an on demand tankless heater installed so their should be no reason Ill run out of hot water unless I'm to broke to pay the electric bill.
