Phase 1 of my Upstairs remodel begins today

The painter called me today and will come and do my upstairs on Wed. He is going to finish a job early and start on mine. Hopefully he will just stay and get everything done rather then have to pack it all up and come back another time. We were originally scheduled for the end of August so it’s a welcomed adjustment in the schedule.

The ceiling in our living room is 2-1/2 stories tall and requires scaffolding to paint. He only has one set so we are in-line for the next opening. If this guy wasn’t so good and offered such a fair price I would get someone else to do it quicker. Its worth the time…

It is fune to see the progress. Its also frusterating that it takes so F-n long

That is our next project after the basement. We also need to hire a painter to come in and paint our front room and hallway which is also about 2 and a half stories tall. We are looking now. We are thinking about asking the painter that is comming in to paint the basement if he can do it for us while he is here. Also get him to change the lightbulbs and wash the window while he is up there too! LOL

Well I got the floor in the master bath in and the shower door today so all in moving forward now. The wood for my living room floor will be in tomorrow. (The day after the installers were here) Get this...... They are coming at 6:AM on July 4th to put it in. If not on the 4th It would be 5 weeks later so needless to say, I said yes.

Now it all comes to a head. The painter just called (9:00 at night) and said if he could start at 6:am tomorrow that he could dedicate 2 crews and have it done in 3 days. Woooo Hooo.... I dont have to hang till the end of August to get it done. My handy man is also scheduled in at the same time as the painters to do the shower fixtures and recessed lighting in the kitchen. I hope they know how to dance.

The topper to the cake is the countertop came in earlier then expected and will be installed on the 5th of July. Looks like everything except the window coverings will be in and up by the end of next week.

I got all my door knobs and hinges (12 sets) delivered by UPS and my towel racks TP holders and other accessories as well as bathroom mirrors should show up any day now.

Lots of work and pics in the next few days. Its all pulling together like a tornado.

Man Ed that sounds sweet! I can't wait to see the pictures. It sounds like you have a top notch crew in place that is eager to get the job completed as you are. I wish I had that luck! LOL The days come and go and no one shows up. A couple of times I got the ok were coming in today, and then no one shows up. Oh well. Like you said... it will all be done soon enough.

Take care my friend and I can't wait to see some pics.

I'm acting as my own contractor. This simply means I pay for the materials and the Labor doesn't get paid till its done. And....... I pay in cash!

No finish, No pay!

That should have been the way I went.... live and learn. I do have the power to hold the last draw until the work is completed to my satisfaction however. At least I have some power... I guess. LOL

Starting to get to the downhill side of my project.
All the wood floors are in, all the shower fixtures and door are in, granite vanity top just installed, entire house is painted inside, recessed lighting in the kitchen is done, and a million other things I can't remember.

I need to install the vanity fixtures, carpet on the stairs, hang all the pictures and mirrors, and do all the decorating. We have window coverings on order for the entire house and are getting new furniture for the family room. We are still undecided if we are going to do granite countertops in the kitchen at this time but for some reason I feel it coming on like I drank the water in Mexico.

Pics in a day or so.

Believe it or not, I did that one by my self with no phone call......
I came close to catching the house on fire when I flipped the switch due to a manufacturers defect but other then that LOL it went fine.

Ill get some pics up in the AM.

Getting closer.
I keep saying that.

Ordered the window treatments, and am having the new carper installed on the stairs early next week. Digging into the half bath downstairs and replacing all the lighting and water fixtures.

Ordered a Natuzzi leather sectional and autumn today. HOLLY F_N poop!! I could have raised a heard of cows and had them slaughtered, kept the meat and had the furniture made from the skin and still had enough leftover for a hefty down payment on a new car for the tag on this fancy furniture. ERRRRR.... the wife had to higher a designer. NEVER AGAIN!

I will get some pics up as soon as its done. Right now If I posted people would think I lived in a war zone..

Thats how I feel.I am still in stalling windows. In my place. And still have two rooms to finish.
Now we are talking about knocking the bedroom wall out and adding 150SQ feet to it.
It will never be done.

Nice seats ya got coming.Leather is nice..

Sounds nice Ed... I can't wait to see the pics. You are really doing alot of work!

I know how you feel Zandor... The work on a house is never really done.... you just run out of time and money! LOL My wife and I have so many ideas and things we would like to do, but unfortunately my parents did not set me up with a trust fund....:opps:

Hey Ed Leather is really nice... it takes a bit longer to get a really good ass groove going but really nice none-the-less. LOL
