Well I finally took the plunge and bought a new Slash from Tower Hobbies
biggrin.gif
, to bad it's on the UPS truck some where between Reno and Sacramento

, I am guessing it will be here by Thursday, knock on wood, LOL!!! I will post pics when it arives, can't wait to let this thing rip, gonna run it on a 7 cell 3300nimh pack for now, but I have plans to go brushless and lipo down the road

You're going to love it. It's going to be hard not going brushless right off the bat. Haha. Right now, I run brushless + lipo, and it's basically the only rig I run. When I go out bashing or racing, I only take it just because it's been that trustworthy for me. I swear, you could throw this thing off a cliff and it'd keep on running.

As much as I dislike most Traxxas products, the Slash is extremely reliable and very tough... I have 2 of them :)

The only problem areas or parts you may want to pick up or upgrade are shock caps, body posts, and rear hubs. Those parts are the ones that break with the greatest frequency. If you're ever planning on racing it in Slash classes, be aware that it needs to stay almost completely stock.

Edit: Oh and another thing, the Slash ESC can handle up to 4s lipo... but there is no lipo cutoff that works with the Traxxas ESC. None. They do something funky in the ESC and haven't shared that info with any other manufacturers.

exactly, Traxxas SUCKS! but, the slash is the poop! i love both of mine so damn much! brushluss and lipo is definatly the way to go but I'm sure stock will be awesome for a while too. Prepare your self though Curtis, your used to running a maxx, so when you run into a curb with this and expect that your day is done because you just busted it in half, you will find that you are wrong and that infact nothing bad has happened to it at all!!! lol.

Well it showed up today but now I gotta go to work so I don't get to play with it until tomorrow:(

Rent fund sale huh? Now we know why you were selling the other rigs :D

The other rigs that were sold were in fact to help pay rent of my neighbor who happens to be a single mom of three kids. Who I was helping out.

Any way here is some pics of the new Slash that was added to the stable today:D

First thing I changed on mine was the gear cover. Kept getting a clicking sound with the stock one on and traced it to dirt and tiny pebbles getting into the gears through (should I call it the Traxxas way?) a hole at the bottom of the cover. RPM makes this gear cover without the hole at the bottom, so your gears are not exposed to all the stuff flying off of your rear right driveshaft:

Another thing that made a big difference were wheels and tires. Pro-Line makes this new wheel and a tire for it that is real good:

Awesome! I really like that body for a stock one. I just got the most common boring, and dull one...the blue one. lol

Spec Slashes RULE! ;-) Make sure you keep that motor clean...and throw away the 23T pinion they put in the box with it. It will kill your motor if you try to use it. Been there...done that. lol Duct tape the body at the shock mounts too or they will wear right through the paint after a run or 2. Like said above, get the RPM Tranny cover, or use some tape to cover the hole in the stock cover to keep the grit out.

A little Hang Time

Took it out front with the little skate board launch ramp for some hang time.:D

Hey abadk9420, did you change out the oil for the shock towers? If so, what oil did you put in before jumping it? I think the original oil was like 30 weight, and so I ended up putting in 55 weight (using that when I race really), stiffened up the suspension a little and have been jumping it ever since. I am using two different oils for the shock tower when I want to bash and a different one when I race it. My nephews even got a good kick out of it when I brought it home with me to Ohio and my brother-in-law wants one of these now too. Have fun with it man! I am still working on my desert rat body I won last year. Money is crunched so I have not made any other purchases with the truck, but I am really glad I purchased that one!

No the only thing I did was put more preload the shocks a little more and move the shocks out one hole front and rear on the a-arms to make it more stable, we just blew our first chock cap catching some big air again off the skate board launch ramp again, unfortunately we lost the little rubber diaphragm that goes in the top of the shock so we are down until tomorrow when I can get to the hobby shop. but I will tell you what we were launching the slash a good 15 feet in distance and about 4 feet in the air.:D

looks like fun man I'm gonna have to get one now maybe you can show me how to master the sideways launch like in the 4th pic lol;)

Now that really sounds like a good time! I still launch mine and I even get cars to stop and watch when I launch it. It is a blast. I had one guy come out of his house and just sit on the front porch watching mine launch and every time it crashed he asked me if it got broke yet and I would show him that it wasn't and he keeps saying he wants to get one of these for his grand kid. I tell him where to get it but have not seem him in a bit so do not know if he got one yet or not. But it entertainment not just for the family, but the whole neighborhood!! :):first_place:

Yeah I to had a small audience too, I was just out ripping it around and a guy pushing his kid in a stroller stopped and watched me for a while then when i was out jumping it the same guy came back again with his kid and watched until we popped the shock cap and had to take it in.:\

That is a sweet looking CORR truck...looks like it will soak up some jumps pretty well. I like the color of the shell too.
