NEW Traxxas Pro Scale Sand Buggy 1/6 8S 2WD

I watched a couple videos of this new Traxxas sand rail buggy it's essentially a 2WD XRT based buggy with lots of scale stuff on it also has sand tires on it. So it's a no go for me and if i had $1,300 i would rather save up an extra money and get myself a Losi 5ive-T 2.0 just my opinion though. I've decided to stop buying Traxxas vehicles for a long time and focus on Arrma, Losi and other brands.

The Traxxas is a licensed Funco Motorsports model. It's modeled after the GTU which runs around $300k.

price has gone up that much huh? i remember when well equipped twin turbo or supercharged LS sand cars with 24+" of travel were in the $80 to $120k range. ...of course that was 2006... ...yeah... i feel old now...
today sand cars aren't as popular. the clowns that used to have them went bust back in 2008. i remember those thing selling used with very low hours for less than half of what they cost new only a couple years later. today those guys are all in 80k side by sides. everybody else has gone back to VW power or Subaru. Ecotec's were popular for a hot minute, don't know if they still are. iv heard mention that those guys are switching to Honda K series engines now.

I'm quite excited about this, I live at the beach so I may have to pick this up, looks like it would be fun!
That's cool, For me though i live pretty far from a sand dune so i'm not in the market for one. btw is there any news about your new radio yet?

What is with the cheesy double light sabers?

Given all the crashes that happen at places like Glamis, more visibility is a good thing IMHO.
I suppose. Maybe some better driving would help too. Accidents should be avoided, no matter how ridiculous the safety measures might look.
Its prob better than the goofy 12' orange flags! 🤣
I guess its all in what someone enjoys.
The lights on my truck and cars are added for lighting up trails and foggy roads.
Not much chance of a 60mph flying buggy shooting out of the woods at me but deer and moose are a major concern.
I don't know the ppl in the dunes in the accidents you're talking about. I don't wish an accident on anyone! 🤞
My vision of this place is a bunch of rich yahoos that have no idea how to drive mixed up with a bunch of renters who have even less of a clue.
Pepper in a few ppl who have a realistic budget and generally build their own buggies so they understand how they work and their limitations...
Its like going to a car or better still a bike show.
Boating is like this too.
Maybe its not all like that but I'll just point out, I know a LOT of mechanics.... not ONE owns a $300k dune buggy. 🤷‍♀️

Perfect summary.

Tossing boating in there was the perfect comparison. I live near a very large, very popular lake. I have a boaters' permit/license, whatever you want to call it...I took an in-depth safety class before purchasing my own watercraft. It absolutely floors me that you can go rent a boat with nothing but a credit card. I won't even go out on the water at that lake during the summer, it's scary.

The flags are there because you have people flying over dunes where you can't see what's on the other side. The flags stick up high so buggies on the other side see you coming 😉

I hsve seen some scary and a few bad accidents on boats. I count myself lucky that I was not a "number" on that lake!
It wad Winnipesaukee. It USED to have 130mph drag boats and 48' Fountains that did 95mph ALL DAY.
A BAD accident happened and ALL that sh!t STOPPED. 55 mph speed limit, boaters permit required...

I know why they are there! They are still goofy as hell to watch tho! 🤣

Damn. Our accidents are mostly of the "drunk idiot who dumped his own kids out of the boat and didn't notice" variety.

SHE got drunk and crashed and someine died. So it was pretty much a cut and dry case as far as I could see. It was terrible. ☹️❤️
