so i traded my revo for a crawler!!!

ax10 artr with proline hammers, internally sprung shocks, goat brushless system, and 2 lipo batteries!!

i put my associated am radio on it and I'm getting a lot of glitches. i think its because the antenna is so long i have to wrap it around a lot so is doesn't get snagged. already crawled over some shoes and my 9 year old stepdaughter lol :D

any ideas??

ok heres the pics!

are those the worlds smallest lipo's? lol jk...nice rig man, its a nice start. i personally would get CC stuff, like a sidewinder or mamba and run a CC BEC on either one and then get a different radio, the only radio besides my spektrum that I've ever used and hadnt had glitching problems with is my HL fm radio, super cheap radio but it does not glitch and it does have a long ass antenna too...

yea they are like 1450 mah and 7.4 volts. the only problem is i dont have a charger for them.. lol

I'm gonna reroute the antenna and see what happens.

you can get little balance chargers for like $20-30 at your lhs, like electifly.

Glad you decided to take the plunge into crawling, I think you will enjoy it, I remember when mine looked like yours, then the addiction took over and well, I am pretty sure you have seen the results, LOL!!!!! let us know if you need any help and we will do are best to keep you going....

You are gonna love that truck! Crawlers are so much fun.

well i took it out for a bit today. broke it the little Y connector on the rear uppers, but joey happened to send me a couple of them. so i fixed that up and then promptly lost front wheel drive. the grub screw had backed out. so i fixed that up and then the lipo cutoff kicked in.. LAME!!

i did however switch the radio to a duratrax i had laying around and it seems to be doing better. i am already learning how to get up and over things better.

my biggest problem is the rear axle hanging up on the rocks after I've already went over them. any ideas?

both times it has been wet out, and I'm still impressed with the traction and climb ability!!

well man, crawling is NOT easy, its all about how you spot your lines, you just gotta watch the hole time and pick where you want the front and the back to go, takes a while to get the hang of how to watch your lines....you can also get the 3 link connectors in alluminum or you can go to a four link setup...

Not exactly sure what you mean by the axle getting hung up but one thing that will help in the rear is to pivot up the pinion angle on the rear axle, in your case this is done by placing a small spacer between the Y conector and the mount where the screw goes through....oh and put a little blue loctite on your set screws...

it has a small spacer on it.

the rear axle gets hung up. like if the rock has a point on it. remember I'm climbing on landscaping rocks.

yeah its gonna do that, like i said you just have to really watch your lines...you might try waxing the axles too, I've always waxed mine and my skids on all my crawlers and its helped some...

ok rolex...:p:

I'm thinking about fabing up a skid that has a better transition then the axle. is there anything on the market yet?

i think theres a couple places that make some axle skids, i ran some that i had made by a local fab guy here last year and i didnt like them, thus the reason i started using wax, not like body wax, but like the wax you would used to wax a skate or snow board, grocery stores sell it for like $3 or $4 a box and have 4 big sticks of it in one box....

here is my setup now, changed it up a bit.

did some work on the ax10 over the last couple of days. i added 3oz of weight to each wheel, for a total of 6 in each front and 3 in each rear. (got the weights from discount tire for 5 bux for 4 sticks. i also stole ncnitros idea and "scooped" the foams for a better footprint. then i took the rock rings and sanded them and sprayed them with some bed liner spray i had in the garage. i think they came out pretty nice!!

by the time i got done putting the wheels back together (OMG!!) it was dark so ill have to try it out tomorrow. but the rig is significantly heavier now. (added 12 oz to it..). it seems that the tires stay planted better though, the spring tension doesn't lift the tires untill its fully articulated.

i also noticed the mg995 servo is a digital so i set the nomadio to digital and it seemed to help the wiggle.

the rings look good man! glad you added wieght.

well i can tell it has more traction. it seems the tires are more planted and dont bounce off the rocks as much. axle ground clearance is still an issue as i keep hanging the axle on the points of the rocks. i can tell i have to be a lot more careful. with the added traction i will break stuff if I'm not. there is a lot less "tire in the air" action as the added weight helps the suspension do its job. the tires seem to bite better but i think the foams are still a bit to firm as they dont conform around the rocks unless they are really planted. the axles seem to smack the rocks harder, but u dont guess that will hurt anything. still a bit top heavy though, i think its time to try semi droop.

I don't remember what size holes were drilled in the wheels.....seems I was always meaning to make them bigger...that makes the tire a bit softer too. Semi droop would be cool. I had thought about it but said heck with it.
