So I received a castle 1515 2200kv motor today.. it's a 5mm d shaft. Same as the stock arrma, but of my 6 pinion gears, only 1 fits, the 14t (stock is 16t)

Is this normal? Just bad standards?
Or is it a fault with the motor?

I Could file a tiny bit out of the other pinions and surely get it on, but I imagine that could cause some issues and uneven wear..

Any insights or helpful opinions?
Return motor? Different brand of pinions?

I had a similar issue with my Felony when i first got it when i was installing my Castle 1717 motor the stock pinions wouldn't fit but i found that the Arrma Safe-D5 aftermarket pinions fit perfectly. But you could try other brands of pinion gears i like the aftermarket Arrma pinion since they stay "Mostly" on the shaft but you can't put an e-clip on the end like on the stock Spektrum motors.

1/8 Scale rigs usually use Mod 1 gearing, and Mod1 gearing typically either has a 5mm bore or an 8mm bore. Any 5mm bore pinion should fit on that motor.

Yeah, it seems the stock arrma pinions just don't fit aftermarket motors, common issue apparently. Got some others coming in th mail.

Thanks for the info.

That's really weird. A 5mm bore pinion should be a 5mm bore pinion. I've never ran into an issue like this. I use/bought all kinds of low dollar pinion gears over the years. I think I got an Arrma pinion gear on my Surpass/Rocket Tarus 4274 motor at the moment. The real problem for me is the thickness of pinion gear's shaft/shank/set screw area and fitment of motor mounts. The following is two 5mm bore MOD1 pinion gears...
