So on my rc car my pinion can't go on the motor shaft all the way, otherwise it won't line up with the spur, would it still be alright or does anyone have any suggestions.

In your second pic, it appears there is enough shaft in the pinion to run it safely. Personally, I'd want 3/4 of the pinion to be filled by the shaft to be ok with it.

It would help to know what vehicle your working with. Its my assumption that the motor your running isn't intended for that vehicle. That might explain why the shaft is too short.

Yeah I have coverted it, i think the previous motor was a brushed 550 or 540, but I have converted it to brushless using a hobbywing 3650 combo. Its called heng long rc mad truck.

I would check to see if there are different motor mounts if it becomes a problem but I think you should be OK. Having a portion of the gear hanging off the end of the shaft can result in a bent or broken shaft but that would be from extreme cases.
