I'm still new to all of this. I have a 2wd traxxas stampede with the xl5 brushed set up. I am wanting to go to a brushless setup and I'm looking at hobbywing ezrun max10 g2 combo with the 3665sd g3 4000kv motor. What are the thoughts on this any help is greatly appreciated

The max10 is a great combo, hobbywing as a whole too. I would suggest going with the 80A/3652 combo, the 3665 motor will be too heavy for a 2wd truck imo.
Or if on a budget, 10BL120 G2/WP 3652 or 3660 combo is still very good for the price. I personally use this in my rusty and slash.
Kv wise, depends on what batteries you're going to use. For example, 2s on a 2wd MT I would look in the 3500-4100kv range.

o DO have this setup for my 4wd truggy. the only advice - go for 140A not 80A. as this one works incorrectly with this motor and it's literally brakes once i release throttle.
i've had combo before, but after my motor shaft found itself separated from the motor itself - i've change motor from 3.5mm shat to 5mm.

You sure it isn't drag brake setting in the esc?

To be fair, 4wd has an additional front diff and more added weight and drivetrain loss in the system so that's why a larger 3665 motor with a bigger shaft is better in your case. OPs is a 2wd pede, hence why I said 3652 so it's lighter on that rear end. Not saying 3665 in a 2wd wouldn't work, it's just too much imo. (Results from my tests comparing a 3660 to a 3652 in my slash for the track/racing. 3660 added more weight in the rear end making it nose up while in the air and not get enough front grip.Plus the additional can length on a rear motor 2wd setup, the endbell of the motor can get scratched up pretty easily. ) also note, longer motor can, more rotor surface area on the magnets = more torque. Helpful for heavy 4wd trucks but lighter 2wd trucks really don't need it.

100% i double check everytthing 3 times *4

i'm not saying 3265 is better, just sharing my experience. i'm 3 month's old RC guy ))) don't have my own opinion...
just send this motor and ESC back to shop this morning

Welcome to RCT. I have a 2wd Stampede I have been a bit indecisive about upgrading. It doesn't weigh much, so it doesn't need much amperage. Stay with 2S.

You could go with the EZRUN MAX10 G2 Combo (80A ESC + 3652 G3 Motor) here...

With that, I would go with the 4100kv motor. I would grab the Traxxas 86t spur - part #TRA4686 and a few Robinson Racing 1/8" (3.175mm) 48p pinions ranging from 19t to 22t or so. The common speed gearing is 23t/86t pinion/spur. But this being a hotter kv motor, you might want to stay a little lower on the pinion teeth.

Or you could try this one with the 3660SL motor and 3700kv motor.
QUICRUN WP 10BL120 G2 COMBO (Sensorless)

The 3660's have a little more torque, so they have a 5mm shaft, so you would need a 5mm pinion instead of the 1/8".
With this I would grab a 20-23 tooth pinion and the same 86t spur listed above.

Or for extra durability for either system, you could step up to 32p gearing. It would cost you a little more, but they would hold up a bit better to brushless power. The 48p gearing should be ok, but just something to consider.

If you do go with 32p gearing, you will want the Hot Racing spur/pinion setup. This setup comes with a pinion sleeve to adapt from 1/8" to 5mm. Not ideal, but they work. Or you could grab equivalent Robinson pinions.

For the 3660SL 3700kv motor, I would grab this.

Or

For the 3652 4100kv motor, I might grab this gearset.

3 times. *4 lol

don't worry about my issue. it's 100% electronic issue (not drivetrain) also should be sorted by shop (fingers crossed)
What did you come up with? Your speed control issue has been resolved?
