Those pictures of the melted case gives me flashbacks of my 1/8 scale buggy.

How often are you doing maintenance on your DB?

Those bearings on the diff pinion gears are some of the worst culprits in my RCs. It doesn't matter what brand... they, and inner hub/spindle bearings, all seem to heat up and get abused more than any other bearing. I was going through 144~200+ bearings a year trying to keep a fleet of RCs ready for friends/family gatherings. I switched, many, many years ago, to grease for my bearing cleaning/relubing maintenance schedule. Some people just toss/replace bearings when they get crunchy. I like to save some money, and try to make bearings last as long as they can. It's a pain in the butt, and not worth it to many, to put effort into cleaning/relubing bearings.

My RCs get ran on extreme dusty (mid summer) backyard track, and since moving to grease to relube bearings with, my bearing costs were cut somewhere close to 75%. But I also do maintenance after every 12 runs.

maintain?
lol I ride it so rarely that I dont have to 🤣
Litteraly every time I posted here after riding, are the amount of times I rode.
And the packs (5000mah) I use per ride, are also very limited.

First time, two packs.
Than again two

I bought another 2 packs and first time after that I could only ride 3 packs.
Now, last time 3 days ago, I managed to use 3 and a half pack (or was it 2 and a half)

And my third ride, I fiddlesticked up the the front and rear diff cases, due to hard landing.
That was a convenient moment to check all other bearings and being the diffs were broke, they were new from the rebuild from that moment on.

So 3 days ago, it was like riding a new car 🤷‍♂️

ALso, from that big rebuild, I used a net from Dusty Cover, and I saw that the car was muuuch more clean inside, almost zero...
All is documenten here with pictures by the way....

That said, as my previous pictures and post show, the diff cases of late evolved with having bigger size bearings, the one that got fiddlesticked up, has the bigger bearing size....
I donno if you are talking about mainly the DB that has fiddlesticked up bearings, but it would be interesting to know if you have the bigger of smaller bearing size.
Diff case part numbers stay the same, so if you dont have other bearings, but receive an 'evolved' diff case from Losi, you are stuck and have to order the new size bearings...

I have two big size bearings left.
And I am not sure about my front diff case if its running the small of the new bigger bearing size.
At least I have some spare diff + two bigger bearings, so I can swap around for now when they fail.

Again, all is documenten with pictures in my previous posts here.

Quick update with pictures. The rear diff was leaking pretty bad so I ended up picking up the Exotek rear diff and diff gearbox housing. Both pieces are really well made. I will note the TLR aluminum pieces that hold the bearings are a bit loose in the Exotek housing, but we'll see how those hold up. The Tekno outdrives are still going strong too, no dents on the dog bone pins whatsoever.

I also made a new ESC tray since my ESC tabs both broke. This tray uses double sided tape and has a slot for a zip tie in case it breaks loose.

Last but not least I also picked up a set of the MC2S 17mm wheel hex adapters.
