Great thanks for sharing! I wasn't sure if I grabbed a decent charger, just heading home gonna throw my 2s lipos on it

It isn't just the charger that allows you too charge under 1hour. It's also if the lipos allow to be charged at over 1C.
Majority of people charge at 1C. If your racing and need a pack done quick the racers would use higher charge rate packs.

I'm charging at 1C, I think it's how the charger is set up out of the box, I changed my mind on the charger from the onyx 245 back to the onyx 235. I'm using a pair of 2s lipo, with the parallel connector.

How do I tell if I've run my MERV too long I was out a 3:30 this morning ripping around when my MERV just stopped responding....there was a red light blinking on the ESC?
I shut it off waited about 30mins turned it back on and everything was back to normal, yes I was driving in the grass, it was freshly cut. I did end up with lots of grass clippings on the half shafts. Maybe there was too much resistance and I started to over heat?... I didn't see any smoke or smell anything burning!

Any clue guys!

That make sense I did turn that function on as stated in my owner manual for parallel 2s lipo configuration!

Also locked out the reverse with the race setting, I was too worried that I might accidentally push the trigger in reverse while it was still moving forward. No I didn't try the trainers setting, but I haven't hit anything yet!, the MERV just seems to flip on its lid if I push the doughnuts too far!...lets not forget about flipping it on its lid while in wheelie overload!

Since the esc has a brake you cannot go from forward to reverse at speed. It just hits the brake.

That's a big relieve, and my red blinking LED could just be low voltage, cause it was windy and cool out this morning. The motor really didn't seem that hot when I stuck my fingers on the heat sink.

There was a lot of grass clipping build up the rear tires didn't turn as freely

If your truck completely stoped it got too hot and went into thermal protection. If it looses power and goes very slow that is the lvd taking over.

+1 Check your gearing, the previous owner may have it geared for speed.

It also comes geared for speed out of the box, if the 23T pinion is still in the box, you need to install it, and likely a larger spur for running in grass and high drag surfaces. I think I'm running 23/56 with stock wheels and tires, and it still gets pretty warm at the end of a run.

Ok thanks guys, I've checked the box for trouble shooting guide so far I have a traxxas catalogue, quick start guide, and one warranty sheet with exploded view pics

Ok, so I just changed the pinion, didn't change the spur since I'm waiting on a few different ones from hot racing....but I should be a bit cooler now with the 23T pinion

I'm so impressed with the MERV, I'm seriously considering a 1/8 e-revo......are there different revos, I've seen some that resemble a MTs rather that what my MERV looks like

I keep burning up the monthly budget, this forces me to push my FLM savage project farther back....

You can download the owner's manual and any other needed info from Traxxas' website. Click on "Products" and work your way to your vehicle, then go to "downloads".

I'm charging a 2s lipo at about 68mins is this normal, I have the duratrax onxy 235 charger....so far I've got it set right for the batteries, and haven't changed anything else in the settings!

What batteries are you using...how many mah, do they allow to be charged at more than 1 c?

I think I posted this in the wrong forum.......can I get it moved to chargers and batteries?
....hmmm, lets try this: like a good neighbour Rolex is there!

I'm using traxxas 2s lipo 2200 mAh part # 2820......where do I find if they can be charged at more than 1c

SPECS: Configuration: 2S2P
Continuous Discharge: 25C (55A)
Max Burst Rate: 50C (110A)
Watt Hours: 16.28
Charge Rate: 1C (2.2A)
Max Charge Rate: 2C (4.4A)
Dimensions: 3.5 x 0.8 x 1.8" (88 x 20 x 35mm)
Weight: 4.7oz (120g)

Take a look at some nano packs on Hobbyking, very cheap and my 2s packs can be charged at 8c. They are rated for 1500 mah but both charge over 1600 mah and balance to a perfect 4.2v...Hard to beat at $9.00 per battery.

Thanks bud! You a big help.....I'm gonna go change that after I run down the pair of 2s lipos, once again thanks friend.

Ill start looking into aftermarket packs when the warranty run out, just incase something happens and my MERV melts or something, if I use traxxas for the warranty that will be one less thing I have to explain to traxxas service department if anything happens in that time frame

The eRevo is only 1/10th scale, but they offer a couple of different versions like the mERV.
