Here are correct measurements in Photo.... I have been wrong this whole time and didn't know it until i pulled out the Calipers to verify.
I am extremely sorry for everything. i will understand if I have overstayed my welcome since I've been totally wrong this whole time.

Part of learning my man! I'm just glad we got it figured out, the one I linked the other day should be the exact pinion you need. I'm looking forward to your victory lap when you get finally get it going. ;)

We've all been there, don't feel ashamed. Glad we got some closure and an update. We've all given ourselves bad information at some point in time and rolled with it, like I said in a previous post... sometimes you gotta give your mind a break and walk away for a little bit. No reason to stress out over some toys when they're supposed to make the stress go away. I don't see any reason you can't stick around, don't be afraid to ask more questions and put your two cents in some other threads. As you probably found out, there are lots of knowledgable people here and there is lots to learn. You've barely scratched the surface of this hobby and before you know it, you'll be a pro helping out the next new guy.

Thank you, I hate when I'm wrong but not afraid to admit it. so my next question is this: would I be better off with a motor that has the 2.3mm shaft diameter since the stock pinion is 2.3mm and should work with the spur gear already installed ? The motor that is in the Pic has 2mm shaft diameter from surpass hobby....

The pinion on eBay I linked the other day should work just fine and you won't have to deal with trying to find another motor.

My 2 cents on the matter, I'd finish this car up and stop dumping money into it. Get it running and driving and just enjoy it for what it is. WLToys cars just aren't worth putting a ton of money into. Save you cash for a while and put it towards something like this. Way more ceiling for upgrading, parts are everywhere without having to order off aliexpress and none of the parts like the motor shaft size or gear pitch are proprietary. You can upgrade it as you see fit without worrying about fussing with trying to find something small like a pinion that will fit. Not to mention; it's much bigger, 10x more durable and bashing around will be a lot more fun. You'll look back on this car and chuckle one day... I did it with a Heng Long 1/18 rc18 clone in 2012. Like I said, we've all been there at some point. 🤣

OK, That pinion is on its way. Will it match up with the stock spur that's already installed?

You are right about finding something else, I've dumped way more money into this thing than I want to think about

Gear pitch and tooth count is identical, so it should mesh right up. Assuming the seller didn't lie about the 2mm bore, it should slip right on the new motor you got as well.

Great, that is what i thought but wanted to make sure... Thank you for your help

The Motor is from Surpass Hobby, The website states this series of motors all have 2mm shaft diameter so it should be fine...

If the math works, it must be.
That is one messed up gear.
The teeth on it look like they've been filed wider or something! 🤣
I went thru the SAME BS with my DeeRC.
Its in a box in the basement now.🙄

Excellent advise to not invest too much time, money or effort into these cars.

THIS is why I recommend ppl stay away from Chinesium!

Don't feel like you did something wrong by getting caught in the 'trap'.

You are FORCED to buy parts from the manufacturer and NOT allowed to use aftermarket parts of better quality.

Gears are normally generic.

NOT your fault!!! By design, these gears are nonsense.

Thank You, Much appreciated.
Will be more careful and look in more detail in the future. Lessons learned !! Hopefully...lol

Thats 100% NOT a mod 7 gear btw.
I could believe mod1. Weird! 😲
That is absolutely a mod .7 gear

That is not the right pinion. That pinion has a bore of 2.3mm and his motor shaft is 2mm not 2.3mm

The picture says that but WLToys use a 2.3mm bore so either the picture is wrong and its really 2.3mm bore (in which case it wont work), or its not really a WLToys A959 repalcement pinion and the seller just labeled it as that (in which case it would work if its really 2mm bore).
That seems to be a common theme amongst this thread. Worth a shot, wouldn’t surprise me if the seller is lying or the specs aren’t correct. I scoured the internet for a mod .7 gear with a 2mm bore and that was the only one I could find. I’m just hoping for OP’s sake it works and he can put away the parts cannon for a little while 😂

Could also be a “upgrade” gear specifically meant for swapping in a standard sized 1/18 brushless motor into the a959. Could also just be the gear that comes on the brushless version of the a959. The item description could 100% be better. But it’s WLToys, so wuddya expect. At this point it’s everyone’s best guess.

I mean maybe 2.3mm bore pinion would work on a 2mm shaft but I wouldnt do it. Lets hope the seller mislabeled it and it really is a 2mm bore pinion.

The gear would have .012" runnout if it is 2.3mm. And I am going to bet it has a 2.3mm bore. If that is the case, it would destroy the spur. This whole fiasco would have me stripping the RC of any useful parts and plopping it into a vertical file cabinet 😆
