Need help tmax 2.5

I kept 2-3 extra plugs when I was running nitro. Never knew when I was going to need one and hated to cut my bashing sessions short because of a bad plug.

My k&n air filter didnt have the foam in it. And i can figure out how to. Is there a chance its not suppose to have one because ita aftermarket

Get a real air filter for your nitro. The K&N won't filter small enough particles out. Try the Motorsaver filters.

Motor Saver filter FOR SURE. K&N looks good but will kill the engine for sure.

Get a new filter. The K&N isn't a filter but an oil breather for crankcase ventilation. The Motor Saver filter is one of the best on the market and most of us have used it on our nitro vehicles at one time or another.

I would never run ANYTHING other than the 2 stage Motor Saver. Dry outer foam that you can remove and rinse the dust out of and an oiled inner foam that will trap any minute particles that MIGHT get past the outer sleeve.

okay now my header has a pretty good dent in it. If i could figure off how to upload a picture i would show you. But would that really effect anything

It certainly COULD effect things but without seeing it, VERY tough to say.
As far as uploading... VERY EASY!

At the bottom of this box, there are options to 'Post Reply', 'Upload a File' (this is the one to click), and 'More Options'...

Click on 'Upload a File'

Choose file: no file chosen

Click where it says: 'Choose file'

It opens to give you options to chose from camera, then a few other options that you need to pick in order to get the right one from your storage.
If you pick 'Camera', you can just take a picture from there and it will load it up, promted to be able to chose it. If you do, it gives you the option to use that pic and if you want to load it as a thumbnail or full size. I chose full size when I loaded my pics to you. Pic 'full size'
After it is done loading, you can add any message you want to send with it, the, choose to 'post reply'
You're all set and we will be able to see your pic!

If its a slight dent ,I don't think it will effect it too much ,maybe a little more back pressure!
If its totally caved in ,that's another story.
If you have a camera that has a SD card & a PC that eccepts one with a photo host ,you
shouldn't have a problem!
I have a lap top that takes a SD card ,I'm glad it does because I don't have the proper cord for
my new camer to plug in yet!

It sounds like this truck has been banged up a bit thru it's history. In general, it would be helpful to see the truck and get some pics up... Things like the issue with your air cleaner not being able to take a sponge would have been answered very quickly, just as a quick example.

Should i take the motor apart since they ran a k&n air filter on it and clean it. What do i clean it with. I have after run oil

I would pull the carb off and see what it looks like. That will give a good indication of what the rest will look like. Aside from that, because there was old fuel and it has been sitting, a good cleaning wouldn't hurt. A clean out with denatured alcohol will work. Don't just drop the carb into a cup full of it tho! There are seals inside that will not like the alcohol. You should spend a little time and see if you can find an exploded view of that carb so you can see what I'm talking about. Print out a copy of it that is big enough to see so you can work with it. Trying to explain how to take a carb apart thru a forum will be difficult I think.

From there, if you want to take the engine apart, this is the time to do it... Cleaning it out isn't difficult. You will likely want to take the extra steps to seal the engine as well. Instructions on how to deal the engine are in the nitro section of this forum. If you can't find it, I can look for a link in a bit. I kind of have my hands full at the moment... I am taking a stress break from the task at hand! Lol!

I already got the carb off and clean it with rubbing acohol. Is that okay i toke all the seals out first

Ok. When the seals go back in, they need to be lubricated. People use green slime from associated electronics for that. It works great on rubber seals!

Your pics are kind of rough and I am looking at them on a cell screen... I didn't see any damage to the header that I would worry about, but I recommend a second opinion for sure!

That dent isn't bad ,A deep well 5/16 is pretty much the same as an 8 ,it will
work too!

I guess the question comes down to how much a replacement header could be bought for. It doesn't look too bad, but its not good either... Considering this is a single cylinder engine, and that debt could effect the output, I would consider replacement.
