I have the Traxxas 4tec 2.0 with the XL-5 and titan motor. I would like to upgrade the radio so I can adjust the steering endpoints. Not sure what radios are compatible, don’t want to go with the TQi either.

Ever since I replaced the steering servo gears with metal gears it only turns a little to the right but a lot to the left. I do have the horn on as close to center as I can get it but it still doesn’t turn properly to the right.

Fkysky GT3B or GT5 are both good budget radios with easy to set end-points (among other settings). Both are available on Amazon as well as extra receivers. I use the GT3B with my 2WD models and the GT5 with my 4WD (just the way I set it up)

Not sure what features are a must for you when picking out a new radio. If just looking for excuses to get away from the wonky settings menu of your current radio... two thumbs up:thumbs-up: :thumbs-up:

Are you sure your current radio doesn't allow you to set end points?

I’m still a newbie and not sure what features I would be looking for. The main reason I wanted to upgrade was to set the endpoints as the TQ radio that came with it isn’t capable of that.

I even tried a new servo but sent it back as it had the same problems. With the power off I can manually turn the wheels equally in both directions but can’t get the radio to do the same. I tried many times with adjusting the horn to no avail.

I’m hoping the gt5 is plug and play 😆

I believe you made a great choice as the GT5 has sub-trim. That is a must-have feature (for me anyway) for setting up steering perfectly when a servo horn is just a tic off from being perfectly centered.

The traxxas radio can absolutely set endpoints. I have several of them. You just have to look at the manual. There are plenty of youtube videos on it as well.
I have searched high and low and have found nothing for the TQ controller. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction?

From what I’ve found the base model TQ controller does not have that capability. I’m not sure why it was never an issue before the stripped gears in the servo.

My apologies, but I was absolutely wrong. The basic controller does not set end points, which is really dumb.

I was sure of the same thing until I seen the TQ and not the TQi.

I got the new receiver installed and the new GT5 radio, very nice. Haven’t had a chance run it yet but it did not fix the issue with the steering.

I’ve ordered a replacement part, a new bell crank to start.

So, what you are saying is, a person should always disconnect the servo drag link and move the steering with fingers to start the diagnosing? LOL. We've all overlooked obvious things before. Not one person here, in this thread, said to check the physical working condition of the steering. Shame on me. 🤦‍♂️

That’s the strange part, I did disconnect the drag link and manually moved the wheels but there’s no issues. It goes freely from left to right and vice versa. Very frustrating.

Hopefully the new parts will work wonders. I did consider completely disassembling the front end but decided to wait for the new part.
