So awhile ago i got this ZTW mantis 120a hv opto esc to run a 70mm 4s-6s edf from jphobby. I want to add a spark arrestor to it but the only extra red wire leading from it is already used on this extra external double transister. I dont want to fry a battery trying to connect it without the spark arrestor as the 6s battery cost more the the esc and the sparks really good at killing cells and connectors. What is this extra transistor hanging off the esc because in most things i can find that show the esc, they dont have that and i can't find anything on what thats for or what to do with it. The site i got it from no longer sells them and i believe they put it on it. Jphobby was the site. Anyone with answers would be great. Its programmed and ready to go but i want to do it correctly and know exactly what everything is before ruining expensive stuff.

I think you are talking about the capacitor pack? That is supposed to reduce voltage fluctuation spikes/dips to keep the ESC happy and performing.

Okay just want to make sure cus theres no antispark cord that normally is on them so you dont destroy a battery or terminals or esc. Which i need to get a spark arrestor added.

Okay cus for some reason a fresh charged only used a few times 6s spektrum immediately after plugging it in with no shorted cables just after sparking went dead. Now shows that cell 5 is at 0v, rest at over 4v. Either it caused the balance charge cable to damage itself or the cable decided to just stop working for no reason when it was just working fine.

Welcome to Spektrum batteries lol… Par for the course with them. Has nothing to do with spark, anti spark, spark a joint, Chevy spark, nothing.. They’re simply hit or miss packs that I’ve seen more problems with than about any other brand.

Well the Mantis fried. This is what that looks like. Look like some bridging occured between the solder and leads and had a runoff causing it short in multiple places. So I'm out $160 just trying to bind it after getting it programmed.

Btw i only plugged it into the 6s lipo and it instantly did this. So didnt even make it to getting binded.
