Hey Guys,

I am looking to pick up a set of tires for the Buggy.... which one should I choose, Moab, or Knuckles 2.0? Looking for your opinions... thanks.

Tom

if it's for track conditions look at what the fastest guys on your track are running and get those...I run crimefighters for dry and Panther Komodo Med for wet...just start collecting wheels when you see good deals on used ones.....you'll always need em and you can try different treads w/o breakin the bank.........I have a few other wheels but they're more specific treads...like the road rages for ...DUH!.....and the knuckles are for field bashing.....cell blocks are for that extra edge on Blue groove surfaces but they wear out QUICK....You gotta try different ones to see what suits your track and driving...

Moabs are great for all around bashing. minutes on the road with knuckles and eee. A good dirt basher, look at the badlands.

Knuckels last for ever, even on road. I have Badlands but haven't run them yet, looks like a great bashing tire.

My buddy has the Badlands on his Hyper. You have to duck and cover when he drives by, those things throw serious roost. I have some tall x pins, but it doesn't compare to the lawn destroyers that those things are. The only thing that I have seen throw more roost are the Slingshots, but those don't count unless you are in the dunes --aahh Glamis, Disneyland for adults!

I bought 2 full sets (8 tires/wheels) from there and a cross wrench for about $60 shipped.

I got the pulsars and something else. I've been running the pulsars on everything but concrete. They hook up really well and throw a lot of roost.

The only problem I've found is that I get small rocks (playing in a highway refinery) jammed in between the rim and axle carrier on my HB lightning, but I think that will happen with any buggy wheel.

get the knuckles 2.0 i got them and they are killer on everything!!

God!! Those are some cheap prices on tires.... do they last long? Does Ofna make good tires? Also I asked around the track and everybody seems to run a different tire. So asking just gets me 50 different answers. I see the Ofnas make a great econmical basher, but what about the track? I have a set of Dirty Harrys, but was looking for another good tire. My Local track is not, nor will ever be blue groove. It is topped with ball field type dirt, and is very rough, with a sandy type consistancy. I don't know much about the Moab, but it looks to have great tread pattern and was just looking for another altrenative. Any suggetions based on this info? Thanks guys.

if the surface has some depth to it and your tires can bite into it then I'd say the Panther Komodo Med/soft compound...if it's more hard surface then crimefighters or the hard Komodo compound for longer life but you'll have less traction.....traction on hard surfaces is easy to get but you will eat tires in a month....cell blocks are great for blugroove but they last 2 days.....the panthers are awsome combo of grip to wear....and the crimefighters I think M2 compound are what I have now...I like them both and that's pretty much what I bring in my bag to the track.....

I've been running the pulsars I bought from ace hobbies for about 1/2 gallon on all kinds of surfaces but concrete. Sand, dirt, pine needles, grass, pebbles, silt and they still look like new. You would probably want something with a little less agressive tread pattern than the pulsars as the knobs are pretty spaced out.

I also bought a set of the whoops II as well. I haven't run them yet, but the rubber feels like the same compound as the Pulsar, so they should hold up just as well, but on less loose surfaces than I normally bash.

I don't have a track, so I can't say how any of them would do. One thing I can warn you of though, is that the glue that is used doesn't hold up worth a crap. I've had to clean and re-glue both rear tires, but I took care of it before it destroyed the tire. Just keep an eye out if you buy the OFNA's.

OFNA Tires are weird....you get an awsome batch that seem to be supernatural and just rock harder than any other wheel...or you get a batch that sucks more than anything has ever sucked before....example: I got a set that lasted forever it seemed and I was trying to wear them out.....even concrete...they were the X pattern ones.....after I trashed them I thought well they actually rocked pretty hard let me try em again...buy a new set and they lasted 3 days....WTF....friend did the same thing only his first set sucked...he saw mine were holdong up good and tried another set...they were like my first set...lasted him like 3 months of 4 days aweek driving....

dont bother lookinh at what the low level racers are using at your track, just the guys that are winning, means they have what u need to run

VERY TRUE

Dayuummmm... those are the cheapest tires I've ever seen. My brother got a full set of ofna's (look like crimefighters except more crappy and hard). They have been holding up REALLY well tho. They look new. But he bought them for $60 for 4 wheels n tires (lol sucker). They are now my bashing tire. I might need to pick up a set of those wierd II ones tho, those look pretty good for the price.

The crappy hard ones you speak of are Sonic IIs. They work fine at my track after softening them up a little w/buggy grip paid like $23 ready to go shipped. The Whoops are similar to Proline Dirty Harrys. Chris used the Crystals last week and they worked OK till the track was blowen out after the 10th scale 15 min. main.

Also these are Medial Pros(the pre mounted ones on sale), Ofna really does not make their own tire, just rebadging like always.

so jeff whats the tire to use there when the track looses its moisture and the track is rutted out and dusty?

I think that for a basher, the Knuckles with the XTR compounds is ideal as that material is tough! The M2 is a softer material so it doesn't have the durability of the XTR compound. A race tire depends really on how you drive and surface. Having the same tires as the winners doesn't mean that is the best.Your skill level of driving will be the ultimate factor.

small soft treads that get worn out quick.....just as a rule of thumb....sucks but you need to be aware of the grip factor....if the ground is hard you need softer rubber...if the ground is soft you need hard rubber....the more TPI (treads per inch) you have the more grip......lots of factors to consider in choosing tires....tread compounds wheel size can affect your traction too.......
