I didn't see any threads in the forum about the buggy, so I thought I'd start one to talk about/discuss all things EB48 two point O. 😁

My two point O is showing signs of being needy. Originally, I was only going to change some hardware.

After doing post run inspection, I found a loose screw holding a camber link to the spindle carrier. Took care of that and found the kingpin should screws needing attention. Whilst there... took care of spindle carriers hinge pins as they too had a tic of play in there.

The weather being too cold; track too moist; seeing all the dirt, and being in a "while I was at it" mood... I felt compelled to start tearin' 'er apart.

did they go with a more standard width chassis for the 2.x? I remember the 48.3 having a skinny chassis
Yes. The EB48.3 (left) had more composite material added to the sides of the chassis to widen it.

Front Gearbox

Once I get through taking off the front clip, there's no stoppin' the tearin' down process.

This looks so much better than what I found in a gearbox on one of my other rides. After six years of abuse, I'm calling the molding/fitment of the two gearbox halves most excellent. 👍 🙌🙌

Just gotta add some grease and we'll button things up.

looks like you need to remove 6 screws to gain access to the front diff?
Something like that. A few screws to remove and the diff cover will come off... all depends on sway bars. My EB is just a track basher for tighter/rough/bumpy environment... I don't use sway bars for the buggy 😁

I'm glad I decided to tear down the whole buggy, 'cause bearing(s) are in need of attention. If I had to guess, 15x21x4mm bearings are the most vulnerable when it comes to 1/8th scale RCs. A person should ALWAYS have a supply on hand.

A bit "crunchy" this one is. I'll replace it now and work on cleaning/relubing questionable bearings at a later time once I get a group together.

As my barber would say, "...back in groove."

Rear Shocks

There is only so much an o-ring can do when I get behind the wheel. The price I pay for having fun in dust storms.

We're gettin' there...

That's more like it. 🥳

Zoom in if you must. I aint got nothin' to hide.😆😅

Rear Gearbox

Sweet! This is what I always love to see... no dirt inside. I must have skipped a maintenance cycle or something, 'cause I thought I stopped using white lithium grease over a year ago. Weird.

Diff Pinion Gear/Coupler

Huh? What the...?! 🤪 I don't know how long I've been running the buggy like this, but sheesh...
I'm so surprised the gearbox didn't melt. That happened to me with my RC8.2e years ago... $$$ to replace everything.

I noticed when I was building my EB48 2.2, Tekno revamped this area of the gearboxes with a larger bearing. Maybe next year the EB48 2.0 will be getting some new gearboxes during the overhaul.
