View attachment 208933 and some Tower Hobbies 6 cell 1400mAh NiCd packs... I was tearing up the neighborhood. Well, the tearing up part came later... after a few 7 cell packs and a Tamiya 19T Technipower motor.
I still have one of those Tower dial chargers.View attachment 208933 and some Tower Hobbies 6 cell 1400mAh NiCd packs... I was tearing up the neighborhood. Well, the tearing up part came later... after a few 7 cell packs and a Tamiya 19T Technipower motor.
Nice! I remember the evader. I came very close to buying one back in 2005. ClassicMy first RC car that i can remember was a Duratrax Evader EXB, My Dad bought both him and me one each to get into the hobby back in the Summer of 2010. My Dad's was Orange like on this pic of the box and mine was Red like the pic of the actual car. View attachment 245857
Here was mine, Lived it's entire time with me almost bone stock although one time i did put Slash 2wd tires in the rear on it once. This car ran on a 6 Cell NIMH battery since from what i can remember it didn't support Lipo's out of the box. It also ran on that Tactic 2 channel 27Mhz AM transmitter it's definitely a far cry from what my next transmitter will be.

Both of these buggies are now a far cry from what both me and my Dad now drive 15 years later. Of course you know i now mostly drive 1\10 SCT's up to 1\6 - 1\5 8s monster trucks. But sometimes it's cool to look back at where i came from almost over 15 years ago as of 2025.
It was a great little buggy for it's time, That was until Me and my Dad got this 4-Tec original my Dad bought it for 80 USD off Craigslist in Fall 2010 it had the original mechanical speed controller and TQ 27Mhz transmitter my Dad even made a set of drift tires for out of PVC piping it. It was our first on road car that was before i got back into the hobby and bought all of those 1\8 - 1\7 fast brushless beasts like the Vendetta, Felony and my XO-1.Nice! I remember the evader. That’s awesome. Never owned an on-road car. They look fun. Those rally cars look great too.It was a great little buggy for it's time, That was until Me and my Dad got this 4-Tec original my Dad bought it for 80 USD off Craigslist in Fall 2010 it had the original mechanical speed controller and TQ 27Mhz transmitter my Dad even made a set of drift tires for out of PVC piping it. They are fun you just need either a good street or parking lot to run them on. I have enjoyed all of my on roads so far someday i really need to find a good stretch of road to get my Vendetta, Felony and XO-1 up to speed. So far i got 55mph out of my XO-1 down my neighborhood street. That’s awesome. Never owned an on-road car. They look fun. Those rally cars look great too.
Nice! I remember this one
With a mild-ish motor they were great. With anything wilder than a 15T motor... I'd start twitchin'.My first RC car that i can remember was a Duratrax Evader EXB, My Dad bought both him and me one each to get into the hobby back in the Summer of 2010. I bet they were fun back then although both me and my dad sold ours back in the Summer of 2011 along with our other RC stuff. Nowadays i have lots of brushless powered rigs going from 3 - 8s that would definitely outpace these old Dutatrax buggies in a heartbeat. But that's how the hobby works but sometimes it's nice to look back every now and again to see what you had 10 - 15 years ago. With a mild-ish motor they were great.
