Hey all. I had been using the odo100 plugs in my z28r and I'm now out. I am in a small town and I think the only plugs ill be able to buy here are the traxxas ones.

I'm using 30% nitro, it's in my revo and I use it for bashing. So lots of on and off throttle. Should I stay with a medium plug, or lean towards a med-hot or hot plug?

I will need to pick these up tomorrow between 9-12 Australia (Nsw) time. So in around 18hrs from now till the shop will be closed

Thanks all for the advice.

I am more of a cold plug person for BB engines. With a lot of on and off throttle the thicker the element the longer it last. For "ME" anyway cold plugs are easier to tune with 30% nitro. I will run warmer plugs if I have too but I had a hot plug actually make an engine run backwards from pre-detonation. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen in a nitro...I was running a truggy let off the throttle it made a strange ping and sputter sound so I nailed the gas and I'll be damned if it was not running backwards....Ok only happened once but still....

Traxxas plugs are all good tho? Might buy a cold and medium. Possibly two of each depending how much they want for em

As said above in a small town and don't think ill have much choice. Will Trx ones do for the time being?

If you can't wait for delivery then I guess you have no choice. Just get a medium traxxas plug until you can get the #99s delivered.

well got the tune back to normal, went from 17/36 to 14/40 (from memory) gearing. goes like stink now. waiting on a losi 4 shoe alloy clutch which should be here sometime this week. and some other little bits. will be ordering the ODO99 plugs monday or something. money pending. i still have 2 odo100's hiding at home (currently not home for a few days)

eBay is your friend... as are typical RC sites like http://www.amainhobbies.com/ .

I run 25% with odonnel medium plugs in my LRP's and they run great.

Typically when you go up in nitro content, you go cooler with the plugs to avoid the fuel combusting too early in the rotation cycle (pre-ignition) or exploding vs burning (detonation). Both of these issues can cause power loss, poor tune, high temps and potential engine damage.

So, for yours, I'd try the odonnel plug I linked above or possibly an odonnel cold plug since you run higher nitro than I do.

so since I'm using 30% nitro i should go with the cold plugs anyway. ill just grab the ODO99 plugs i think

Thats what I read anyway and since I couldnt find them listed on their website I assume its true. Funny thing is though I read that like 1-2 years ago and they are still readily available. IDK but I do know when Amain had them on sale for Black Friday this year and last year for .99 cents ea. I bought a poop ton of them. I bet I have about 30-35 glow plugs now lol.
