Was hoping for more of a solid base in the rpm cage. Not so much

Here's what I would do man. Trace that cage onto a piece of aluminum, but make sure you leave material for the 3 countersunk holes. The gray piece below would be 1/4" or so aluminum plate.

These come in handy if you don't have one.

Oh, are they outside the cage footprint? If so, that makes things much easier. You're not planning on using that adapter plate that came with the brace are you? I see it hiding under the cage there.

No not using that plate. The brace that it will bolt too has two threaded holes already and they will be under the cage. There will be room for regular screws and not flat heads. At least that’s the plan right now

Got the M2C stuff in and swapped the servo horn.

Ok, version one, rough cut. My dremel died trying to clean up the cut edges (yes that’s all I got here at home for now )

Going to drill and tap the holes next.

It does need some clean up still, and I will need to counter sink the front bolt at least (probably just do em both while I’m at it)

It’s not quite squared in there, but meh

I’m probably gonna re drill the plate to brace holes now looking at it in the picture

Doesn’t look bad for some dremel fab! Wouldn’t be able to see it with the body on anyway lol ‍‍‍

I actually cut it out with an angle grinder with a cut off wheel from an old trolling motor mount plate .

Was using the dremel to clean up the cut edges

A benchtop belt sander would come in handy here. But that looks great! Nice work man.

Thanks man! I’m going to clean up the edges some more and redrill that back hole. My dumbass had it marked right, then I drill the two side holes and tapped them. Then I sprayed the cutting oil off and there went my other two hole marks


I’m gonna get them bodies cut eventually too

Hey, it's symmetrical. Just flip ot over and redrill

It almost doesn’t look like it was cut with an angle grinder anymore

Nicely done my man. That should do the trick. The only thing I see is that cage only having those two screws seems kinda weak. If it were me, I'd maybe throw a thin layer of Shoe Goo on the ribs of that cage before screwing it down. With those two screws and the Shoe Goo, I imagine that will be a solid mount.

Drilled through the cage and tapped the plate, the rear cover bolt will go all the way through into the plate

Straight lines. Don't do swirls as they will be much harder to get out in the next step. And it looks like you need a harder surface below your sandpaper (rolled over edges). Got a piece of MDF or similar to put under your sandpaper?

The swirls are cause for tried to polish it with a wheel

I’m gonna go back with the sand paper. This was just a bit I could get done on lunch break
