Losi xxl issues with direction

It's not mine, I run a savage and again learn why!!!lol...anyway a friend brings it to me to look at...he had damaged a gear in the tranny, replaced it and it seems he has only reverse now!! He must have put something together weird so has asked me to fix for him... Where to start, any clues would be great before I strip the damn thing!!

UHHHH, Did you try using the reverse switch on the radio? Is the servo working?

Servo seems to be working fine...think I may have found that direction switch inside tranny was messed with....gotta charge er up and try tomorrow...here's hopin
