I bought this kyosho scorpion xxl about 2 years ago from a private seller who had it as a display car and I was surprised to see it advertised because I didn't know kyosho made it.
This kyosho scorpion is new including the 28 pull start engine and I will keep it new because I am using a 21 non pull start engine.
The pipe is a 2 piece alloy and i'm glad it's not a plastic.
I got the starter box ready and I got a choice of engines and i'll show later.

I bought my first nitro new in 1987 a kyosho assault then sold it about 5 years later...how lame to sell it.
The plastic zip starter lasted about 5 times then broke so i had to use some string and to start her off the rear cone.
I reckon the kyosho scorpion is like a late model kyosho assault but larger.
I got some kyosho buggies as well.

The Assault is awesome too!!! Killer collection!!! 😍

Edit: I did put 3 x 0.5mm spacers between the V-spec front bearing and the brass cone and that has extended the fly-wheel forward and it fits better now.

I had a closer look at the clutch-bell and the spur gear mesh and the clutch-bell teeth doesn't completely cover the spur it's only 3/4 it could strip it really needs to be fully covered by the bell and i checked the V-spec crank length and it's about 2mm shorter than the other engines and so i have to use one of those instead.

I replaced the 3 x 0.5mm spacers with 2 x 1mm spacers here is the clutch stack.

2 x 1mm spacers on first.

Its one of the best looking buggies Kyosho ever built!
Awesome!!!
It would be good if Kyosho made a history of all there off road nitro's like this page.
https://www.kyosho.com/rc/en/topics/kyosho_60th_anniversary/index06.html

with the glow plug out I attempted to turn the engine over on the starter box using 2 x 7.2v batts in series and the starter boxes rubber wheel is not turning the engine the engine is near new and still locks up sometimes at TDC.
I'll try again I got some other starter boxes or I put in another O.S engine with less compression and it will be easier to start.
