I built an extended tmaxx with the renew kit. Quality kit. Except the carbon body post bracket. Broke it the first time pull starting my motor.

Anyways, I broke the output shaft on it. So I upgrade the whole transmission with Robinson racing metal gears. I’ve broken the output shaft again. Three tanks later. This is going to be a severe weak spot. Slipper is 3/16 off tight. But, everytime I tune it and start giving it to it, it breaks this shaft.

Anyone have any suggestions of a lead to a better shaft?

Mike I appreciate you looking. The shaft that it’s breaking is actually the primary shaft. The link you posted was the top shaft. I do appreciate you looking.

That shaft appears to be cast and not machined. I would look for a machined shaft, if that actually exists.

I have the same issue with my Wraith running an RC4WD two speed setup. I have to remember the Pro4 3300kv likes to eat those ocassionally.

Any chance you can heat it and dip it to make it harder?
I was thinking that. But, when reading about it descriptions say it’s metal and aluminum.

I don’t believe that but, I also don’t believe Traxxas hardens the 5393 either. Which is supposed to be an upgrade hardened primary shaft.

It’s literally ripping the shaft into where the pins go through it. It looks soft.

I got one on the way and I think I’m going to try it.

If a magnet sticks id heat it cherry red and dip it. Done it to several parts before with good results.
