I only use the DX3R for crawling.

I need the 3 position 3rd channel and my 3PKS does not have it. Not ready to upgrade to the 4PK either.

I also need a RX that can handle more than 6V so I can set my BEC to 7.4v for the high voltage steering servo. The Spektrum RX's can handle up to 9.6v.

Thats good to know ;) I want a dx3r badly.

Looking good Rob! The new wheel looks good on the 3r. Amain has the skin kits for like $30 too. Looks like your stand is working out well also!

Damn Rob this has come out looking really nice, you otta come up to Oroville this Saturday for the NCVRCC club comp at the fish hatchery and put Ur new rig through its paces and see how it holds up.

I crawled around for about 10 minutes this morning before leaving for work. I must say that even just crawling over stuff in the workshop I can tell the performance is light years beyond my Warthog. This is without using dig also.

I am not feeling comfortable with the Sidewinder powering the twin pullers, but I will run it anyway. Worse case it will just thermal and shut itself down. If that happens even once, I will throw in a Mamba Max Pro or the Holmes TorqueMaster.

Weather today is sunny so I will take some final build pics and weight the vehicle this evening.

My daughter has yet another gymnastics meet that I can't miss or I would be there.

Only 1 more gym meet to go after this one. It has been a long 9 meet season all over the state.

Well its only comp 1 of our points series so we hope to see you at the next one! Maybe it will be down towards you more.

In order to easily replace the battery without removing anything, I decided to just mount the electrics up top using a another battery mounting plate for the ESC.

I removed the 2 aluminum cross braces so there is a little weight savings.

I worked hard on the birds nest.

I have some Losi yellow and gold springs to try out once I get some real wheel time on the rig.

I will also be picking up some Rocksmith Engineering Ti links and axle supports once he gets back up an running.

No time this evening to go out and find someplace to crawl.

I did run it around the back yard for about 5 minutes. The testing involved a lot of sprints, testing both front and rear digs constantly, stops, starts and reversing. My final run was an 50 foot sprint back to the workshop. The 7T pullers really make this sucka get up and move.

ESC was at 110 degrees, front axle was at 90.5 degrees and rear axle was at 94.8. Ambient was around 70.

Nice! Cool to see your sitting under 7 lbs pretty easily. Looks great Rob.

Thanks.

I need to make some lexan skids for the lower links to give the pullers some protection.

I was gonna say myself, I can't wait to see how badly those 7Ts catch on the rocks. It's the only downside I can see to MOA-ing a Losi apart from the fact it doesn't totally get rid of torque twist.

I'm not seeing any torque twist. At least none that is noticeable. I will take some vid and check it out in slowmo.

Looks great Rob! Clean wiring too.

Thanks Brandon.

I am not liking the heat being generated by the Sidewinder.

I think I am going to pick up a Mamba Max Pro and do a swap. Footprint is the same as the Sidewinder and I like having the fan.

The Cobalt pullers are working the Sidewinder to death. I am running dual Sidewinders on My MOA Losi and the controllers are still getting up to like 110 degrees.

At 5 minutes I am pushing 130 degrees on the cooling fins.

Damn, that sucks Rob. I hadnt thought about that really. MMP should take care of that pretty easy like you mentioned.

I knew I would be pushing the limits of the Sidewinder. With ambient at around 60 degrees, it should not have gotten that hot.

Don't want to have thermal shutdown or the magic smoke.

No reason to push it. I don't like not finishing because of equipment (which is why I am not a fan of Novak) in racing, so crawling is no exception.

That makes 2.;)

aannnd... 3 :)

I would have said with 2 7Ts and Losi axles (which will work em hard) you would be better going for a Mamba Monster if you've got the wedge. Running 2 ESCs can be a pain, you are better off with 1 ESC rigged for 2 motors and the Monster is exactly what it says on the tin :D

Mamba Monster is way too big for this rig.

I would have to locate it on top of the bottom plate and move the battery up top. Not the end of the world, but I like the current layout.

I will give the Mamba Max Pro a try. It should do just fine. Some guys are using the regular Mamba Max with a pair of pullers without issue.
