We have a dilemma at work that you folks might be able to help/point us in the right direction.
We work with grain storage and we need to access the top of the heaps of cargo which at the moment we cannot do physically in case a person sunk into the cargo.
So we are looking at a remote control option, Does anyone know of a company that could provide a vehicle that could climb up and over heap cargos like wheat without becoming buried?
Would also need an option for being able to remove things from the top of cargo like feathers and possibly dead pigeons so would need to be robust.
Something that could be adapted for different tasks.
Cost would not be an issue within reason.
Ideally somewhere that could come to one of our sites and demo.
As if it was successful it would be rolled out company wide.
Thanks for reading and hopefully get some good feedback

kyosho blizzard is the first thing that popped into my head. its tracked and i think was originally made for driving on snow. so in theory it shouldn't sink or bury itself. at least easily. i would think that would be your best bet. just not sure what kind of inclines it can handle or how much weight it can carry though...
as for removal of "debris" it comes with a snowplow. probably not ideal, but it's a start.

Thanks for the replies and ideas guys.
I have watched a video on that one and don't think its big enough for the job.

I guess the first question is how big are the piles? How much product do you need to move with the rc vehicle? If cost is not an obstacle than possibly 2 vehicles. One to move product, and a drone type vehicle with camera and means of pigeon removal.

The Kyosho Blizzard or an SCX10 with a set of tracks could work.
The SCX10 has tons of upgrades that you can purchase to get it up super steep inclines and its superlight(ish)
Gotta love using rc cars for real work. (best way to convince the wife that its not just a toy car)

They make a machine specifically for grain silos

I do not believe anything with tracks or tires would work at all unless it is extremely light, and has a very large surface area on its "feet". It is absolutely crazy how easily things sink in grain. It's like thick water. That is why that Grain Weavel idea is what they came up with as it swims to the top. If simple tracked vehicle worked, they would not have gone to that much trouble to design that weavel.

Can a person use snow shoes?

A drone with a camera would give you visibility and with some talent might be able to pick up a dead pigeon, but it will take a few mins and require some skill.

No. A man must be in a harness with a safety spotter inside and one outside. Grain bin death is serious. Never ever go onto a pile of grain.

I don't know. I don't if anyone's tried.

Abort the mission. AI says it's might help but it might kill you too.

Summary
While snowshoes would theoretically provide some "flotation" on a completely stable, non-moving, non-bridged pile of grain, there is no way to verify those conditions from the surface.

In the agricultural world, the only "shoes" that make walking on grain safe are a full-body harness and a lifeline anchored to the top of the silo. Without those, you are just a bigger target for the "quicksand" to grab.
