I went shopping for a 10th scale crawler/trail truck yesterday. Element was among the brands of rc that had my attention. There are some great looking trucks with favorable reviews both here and other places. I went direct to what appears to be the manufacturers website and found what appears to be an incredible sale. The website sends you to PayPal after putting in your info and hitting the pay now button. Paypal sent me a receipt fir the transaction. A little while later paypal sent me a notification saying there was an additional charge and the new total for the transaction would be about $15 more. I went back to element rc and found no explanation for the added fee. I also saw they had my payment as still pending after being approved. Several hours later the website changed to having canceled my order, but did not cancel the payment. I have filed a grievance through PayPal, and will be calling my cc company tomorrow.
Normally I would not bother with deals that appear too good to be true...I also normally don't find them to be coming from a source that appears to be a reputable manufacturers website. Buyer beware. Avoid this one...

I used the contact us for the official website to make AE aware they are getting beat in Google search listing's by a scammer. No idea if they can do anything to help shut this guy down, but they probably have more sway, and interest than I do since it will directly impact the brand to have stuff like this out there. Imagine trying to file a warranty claim for a product you bought legitimately somewhere else and coming to a scam website that looks like it could be the right place??

Oh yeah, that's a scam site for sure.
There are a few around. I know when I was looking for an SSD Trail King there was a site with the same font that showed having one for a similar price. After reaching out the the forums it was confirmed to be a scam.

Best of luck with the refund bud

I knew there could be a possibility it was bad....I also know there have been times taking a gamble has paid off for me. I found a website that had a Weber kettle for 1/3 the price anywhere else. I ordered, received a receipt....eventually got tracking. I watched the tracking get to ct and turn around and go all the way back to where it came from. Then the seller canceled the transaction. 2 weeks later it showed up on my doorstep. I was never charged at all.
Not this time...

I love my Weber kettle!
I have a pizza oven conversation kit for it.
When we had our RV we were having pies regularly. That was one of the few things that came back to the city when we sold 😍
I have 2 18 in Weber kettles. Been grilling em forever. When 1 wears out I just buy the exact same model again. No one makes a better grill!!

Just called the cc company. They can not dispute a transaction that has not made it past the pending stage. Having opened a claim with PayPal I expect they will squash this before it Even gets there.

My neighbor got bit by one of those trying to buy a chainsaw way too cheap.
site was "stihlsales.com" or something.
"But the name was right in it..."!

Right...like there was a time you could look at the address bar and no matter how convincing the home page was you could spot it easy.

When in doubt, do your homework. I alway use a scam detector to verify questionable sites.
Here is what it had to say.
