So guess what. I found out that I could almost assemble another TRX4M build from the left over parts I have in stock alone... Who would have thought :D

Ordered the missing bits... Hopefully they arrive before Christmas :)

Nice! For the Doomsday build? :)
Maybe. Or another 6x6 later on. I asked about doing the same body as yours, but with a longer bed and tandem wheel openings.

While waiting for parts to arrive might as well work on the ones that I have in stock as of now :)

I know for a fact that this truck will need a bit of weight to the front axles in order to help with weight distribution, so I took apart the standard +4mm front axle and swapped out some aluminium bits with brass. Namely the diff cover, c-hubs and knuckles :)

So for the motor and ESC combo I already have this lying around. Originally intended for the 4WS TRX4M IR40 build before it was converted to 4WS which obviously required a different radio system and therefore also a new motor and ESC.

The Traxxas brushless system is actually pretty competent. It is very smooth and linear in the throttle curve and is a very easy system to install given the combined ESC and receiver. It is prune to cogging I would say. Especially when the battery voltage has dropped below 4V per cell so gearing down for crawling with the system is essential.

I love those tires. I wanted to use them on our Doomsday build, but the diameter is about 3mm too big. Can't wait to see this come together.

I just finished up a guitar build so I might start another crawler build.
I'm thinking very seriously about another 1/5 scale gas rig.
Something like the 360 BLT.
Just think of it as a really big, fast crawler... :D

If I would just get off my dear arse, I could make more room in the shop.
I have a disaster in there right now. I've been wanting to go in and clean it but
my knee is toast right now.

That looks awesome man!

So next up the rear axle. Fully aluminium +4mm each side making it a total of 8mm wider than stock TRX-4M axles. I pair it with a set of -16% underdrive diff gears to offset the front and rear tyre speed - giving this little beast much more front end grip when crawling.

Had a red diff cover lying around so put that on to match the red shocks.

They are simply the best tires out there. Can't you add some wider hex hubs?
No, it would be for our 6x6 build. 62mm tires would have the rear tires close to running into each other.
