Hi all :)

So I just finished my 4WS "TRX4M" Injora build. The platform really is not designed for 4WS but it works out just fine and adds a lot of dynamic capabilities to this little crawler. I have tried to pack as much performance into the build as possible along with the compromises the platform comes with. The body is not the lightest but I wanted it for aesthetics anyway.

Weight destribution is at 57/43% front vs rear by adding quite a bit of brass parts in the front axle to compensate for the rear servo (diff cover, C-hubs, knuckes, front wheel brass inlays). Would have prefered just a bit more front weight but that would mean I would have to go creative. Also added front overdrive of 16% which really helps the little truck to pull itself upwards.

On the electronic side I sticked with Injora 11kg servos. They are very fast and have plenty of torque. Went with the new Hobbywing QuicRun Mini 24 brushless motor and ESC combo featuring FOC and buttersmooth throttle control. Everything controlled by a FlySky receiver pared with my Noble NB4+ to allow for a lot of customisation and control of the 4WS.

Some key specs:

  • 1.3" alloy wheels and Swamp Claw tires
  • Injora +4mm metal axles
  • Injora LCG Carbon chassis
  • All metal Injora driveline and 59% underdrive transmission gears
  • 16% front overdrive
  • 59mm shocks with 25wt shock oil
  • Custom painted Injora IR40 body
Hope you like it :)

How do you like the HW 24 setup? I should have grabbed one when I ordered my HW combos.

It is really nice. Super smooth and very controllable. No issues with cogging either. Only downside I an come to think of is that is has a "slow" mode that covers a programmable range of the throttle input. When you cross the line from "slow" mode it kinda jumps quite a lot in speed. You can mitigate this to set the crossover to 10% throttle input (as low as it will go) and gear down - then its almost unnoticeable.

If you further customise the throttle expo you will end up with a system that can crawl extremely slow while also being butter smooth and precise in regards to throttle inputs. It will still be fast enough for you to trail it if you wanted to. I really like this cheap little system.

Sweet. I have seen similar transition issues with the other brand ESC's as well. You got a radio that can mitigate those issues though at least. I just got my first Furitek setup with the Unity. Can't wait to try it out on the Radiomaster to see what kinda smoothness I can dial in. Money, failed parts, and aches and pains keep me moving at a snails pace.

Yeah I have heard that it is a "problem" that a lot of other ESC's suffer from as well. Can be "fixed" for the Mini 24 with a HW program card. Seems wierd that they have chosen to design their ESC's which are really ment for crawling that way.

Throttle expo help further for customising the throttle trigger input smoothness to your liking but not overly nessecary I would say.

I was also looking towards Furitek but they are hard to come by where I live :)

I have the Unity going in our 6x6 Doomsday build if you would like to follow along. It's a very slow build, so don't go thinking it's going to be done any time soon lol. But I am slowly grabbing parts for it.

Wow thats a nice project! Will definitely follow along.

I know the feeling. Waiting on parts, ordering the wrong ones ( :D ), money and too many projects. Things can drag out :D

There are quite a few of us mini guys on here. I have 3 fairly completed builds and 2 currently building, and maybe 2 more if you count all the spare parts now 😆

But @Doom! is the king of minis here. Dude has like 100 of them. I kid lol. He has a bunch.

Really nice build @floe. Thanks for the tips on overcoming that slow to running mode jerkiness. I'll have to try that out later!

You are welcome :)

It's the option "Low Speed Throttle" no. 13 in the programmable items. Set it to 10% and preferably pair it with a low speed gearing in your rig. You'll need a Hobbywing program card to set it.

Thanks for the advice!

I’ll add that :) Better check out Doom then :D
