So I always wanted to build a half cab body for my Infraction. I actually started this project last summer but have not got any further before now. It's not the easiest of builds and there have been some quite interesting problems to solve down the road. How to mount and what to do with the rear wing, designing a rear body mount, making sure that the body will allign to the chassis and wheels in the back (it kicks out because of tension in the lexan) - and much more. I think I have a plan for all of that now and the project is now in a state where there is something to present :)

As stated I started last summer - cutting and painting the body. I would not go through all of this to end up with a dull paint job so I went for something quite out there. 7 coats of PS47 backed by black PS5. The skull on the hood is painted as well but here I did only 2 coats of PS47 before backing it.

Next I have spent quite some time on figuring how to design the rear body mount. I have gone throguh various iterations some which had a wing mount but was discarded but ending up with one without and figured out that I could not make a fully custom wing mount my self.

This brings me to the current state... I decided to go for a Limitless rear wing mount and pair this with a Typhon TLR wing. It ended up looking a bit off since the wing was horizontally mounted, so I had to design my own limitless style wing mounts that raised and angled the wing to my liking.

Both the wing mount and rear body mount is laser cut from 3mm acrylic. Project is not nearly finished... For now I have the following things on my list - but it will probably grow :)

  • Install white wheels
  • Paint the rear wing pearl white
  • Extend the rear diffuser to the rear wing
  • Add background PS47 color beneath the ARRMA logo on the rear body mount
  • Align the rear of the body to the chassis so it does not flap about and stick out
  • Design a front grill
  • Add "real" heat treated titanium exhaust tips
  • Install a Polo Creations light kit
  • Clean the bastard and shoot some photos :)
Hope you like it and want to follow along :)

I'd also put some orange LEDs in there and figure out a way for it to backfire when decelerating or getting off the throttle. It's a sick car though!
I have considered it 😂 But I think it will be a rather complex task. I have titanium skidtpates under the chassis that makes sparks when it hits the ground. That must make up for it 😃

So, for me these half cabs are all about an aggressive rear end. It is exposed and gets a lot of attention so I put some efforts in to make the rear stand out.

I have mocked up a double diffuser and some diffuser end plates cut in 2mm ABS. Still need to button everything down but you get the picture.

Pretty happy about the result. Getting second thoughts on wether I should paint the wing White or not to match the upcoming white wheels 🤔
