This is the first time I've actually seen a savage. Here it sits before me and my jaws just closed. I had NO idea how freaking huge this thing was. I will give you a rundown of my emotions in order:

Excited
Like a child again
Angry that I don't have fuel yet
Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed because it hit me I have no idea what I'm looking at once the lid is off. It took me a couple of mins before I finally turned it upside and found the steering servo. I didn't get the DVD for some reason from HPI and the manual is vague. I've watched what clips from the DVD I can find on YouTube, but just a couple of sections is all I found. I checked the mesh of spur wheel and clutch bell. Leaves a nice crinkle pattern but I can pull it out backwards. Is that bad? I mean it takes a little effort but I know nothing. The spur gear and c bell are not perfectly aligned vertically | but again I don't know if they should be:angry: . When I buy the hump, does it fit in the little area for the aa battery pod? I have so many questions and I'm not gonna crank it till I know the answers. Maybe a little too cautious but I want to do it right. Any advice as always is greatly appreciated.

Well, if you're wanting to monkey with it while you build confidence, this is what I'd do. Couple things to get you started: If you're confident that the mesh is good, pop out one engine mount screw at a time, apply removeable locktite and tighten em back up. You can do this to any and all metal to metal screws. You can also check to make sure the carb linkage is adjusted properly. Turn the controller and trucks electronics on. Withh the air filter off, make sure the carb has about a 1mm gap with your finger off of the trigger. Make sure it opens all the way when you squeeze the trigger all the way. Also make sure the brakes work when applied. Few things to get you started.:) Let us know. We'll get you going. Remember, this is a great day!!

Couple of video seies I would watch too.

This is the first video of a 10 part series i would watch the whole series.

This is good info to have....you may not want to start out doing this since your brand new to nitro but eventually you will probably want to do this.

You know if you roll it around on the floor and make vroom vroom sounds, you can be like rolex. LOL.

From what I've been told its probably 1 of the best MT's you could have bought to start out with. It's ok to be cautious but dont be afraid. Theres enough knowledge in this forum to where we could probably get you to completely disassemble and reassemble the entire truck. +1 for the how to vids from Greywolf. "Squirrell" has a ton of vids on youtube and he is pretty explanitory when giving the how toos. IMO the sealing vid is 1 of the most important 1's to follow. Good luck and congrats.

For most of us, they'll never be that clean again.
That's totally not true. :D

My house smells like the tires. I love that smell.
The smell of a tire warehouse is second ONLY to a bakery. :hehe:

Congrats on getting one great rig. Go over it and snug all the screws before you run it.
